Atomic XR 22 cal with JSB Monster 25gr?

I'm certain "Mr. Atomic" has tried them! @L.Leon your thoughts?
I haven’t tried them. Like @AirNGasman, said… Atomic XR simply not powerful enough. Pellets I have tried: JSB Exact Jumbo 18s, AAs 16s, CPHPs, Crosman Premier Domes and Daisy HPs. All but the Daisies have performed well for me. Jessica takes really close range shots, so maybe the extra mass is beneficial to her.

"My XR Sniper does fine with the 25gr pellets and slugs."

FWIW, and nothing more, my Sniper XR sprays 25.4 RDs into one-foot groups at 100 yards. But on power-levels 3 & 4 it averages 1-1/4" groups at 100 with 18.1s.

The key is that Jessica, as stated, shoots very short range, 25 to 35 yards and know just what it takes to take down those lizards and not have too many pass throughs or fly too far if she misses. As a note, I can barely hit a barn at 25 yards standing, and it had best be a big one.

These days it seems like many are having a fpe and fps contest. And you hit the nail on the head with slower velocities that don't pass through., imo, are dumping more energy into the pest than a high velocity pass throughs. And safer in that environment.

Anyone can try it with soup cans. Try it with a high velocity airgun 950-1050 fps and it goes right through both sides , and the can barely moves. Turn the velocity down to the 500-800 fps and the can goes flying.

What you say is definitely true. I have cleanly DROPPED big Texas jack-rabbits with chest shots from (fifty year-old) .22 Crosman Co2 pistols producing 6-7 foot-pounds; yet another jack center-punched in the heart-lung area with a .177 R-1 producing 15-17 FP ran a 50 yard circle before finally falling over. I've had other similar experiences, but that's an excellent example of terminal-ballistics energy-DUMP.

For the reason @Headshots & @AirNGasman have stated, I have my XR Sniper .22 outfitted with an ATN 4k Pro which I have 4 profiles setup for each power level segment on the rifle. Hi-power I use for those longer range outdoor shots that I know can use the extra speed to deliver more energy at the distance. I use the lowest setting which comes in about 600 fps. I use a CHCP 14.33 grain pellet for all settings. On low power, it delivers a huge whollop for those 25 yard indoor shoots without destroying the permissions property on a miss or pass-through. I'll use the other 2 depending on what the shooting conditions call for. Very nice to be able to switch between them very quickly (you have to shoot the current air out to get the new air in for the changed setting!).

In my opinion, constant and incessant noise about "new", "better" and ESPECIALLY, more complicated is exactly that; and largely why the Sniper XR goes overlooked by all the Joneses.🤓😵‍💫

Any idea how fast they were traveling? I bet your shot count goes down quite a bit too?
Haven’t Chrony the JSB Exact Jumbos yet, but I bet no more than 700 fps, considering the Crosmans are doing 725 fps. I get approximately 25 good shots with the Jumbos. Steve @AEAC has a video on the Atomic where he graphs different pellet weight and shot count.
