Atomic goes birding...

I finally was able to figure out the sparrows. Set up inside the hoop house on hay bale (green arrow), 30 yards from circled perch. The sparrows and starlings would stop there briefly and I would whack em, if I could. Shot six birds in and around the big barn (not pictured) I did not recover. The wind was howling outside but not in the hoop house. I will be putting a bigger dent in their numbers now that I have them patterned. Loving lower power pesting with the Atomic XR. All kills with Crosman Premier Domes.

Luis, excellent shooting on the HOSP's and starlings with your Atomic! Still can't get over how small and compact that rig is! And...it likes CPHP's! Ha! Nice photos! Doesn't get any better and more fun than shooting in windless conditions!

@L-Leon Those birds really kinda give us a better idea of the actual size of the gun. Have you done any pesting with the Crosman domes on a lower power level yet? In the photo it looks like it’s set to the highest level.

While I have done some target shooting at the lowest TP setting, I've yet to try it while pesting... Hope to try it soon on a night excursion after roosting birds.

When target shooting do you find yourself having to utilize significant holdovers at 15-35 yards on let’s say TP setting number 2?

@ezana4ce, other than a few groups at 15 yards to gauge height difference of POI (negligible). I haven't yet test trajectory at the lower two TP settings out to 35 yards, yet.

Thats what I’m curious about. I’m asking because my thinking is this, if I shoot a Brocock inside of a barn I want to have it tuned so that my shots won’t pass through and are less like like to punch holes in the sheet metal roof. I’ve tarred holes in a barn roof and it’s no fun, especially in the summer heat. Keep us posted. You’ve been very thorough this far. Thanks for taking us along for the ride with you.

I turned mine down to 12fpe and it perfect for inside, doesn't penetrate wood yet has just enough to get down on the rats out to 30 yards. Kinda neat because I can turn it up on the fly when I move outside for the rabbits and squirrels.

Thanks! This place when it was a working dairy was infested with rats. Now? I haven’t seen not even one. So flying rats are getting my attention.

There’s feed in the hoop house for their chickens, ducks, peacocks, burritos, goats, etc. So they come to the perch naturally. These particular sparrows have been smart bastages. But I’ve figured them out...
