ATN X-sight 4k pro ultra hd 11 3-14x

finally pulled the trigger on this bad boy. have heard reviews ranging from awesome to PIA-don't bother, software has issues. i will try it out for myself and give commentary about ease of use. i'm no one special, i have no tech degrees, just a regular guy with average smarts, patience. so i will see how hard it is to make this sucker work. but i like what others were able to achieve with this scope. see what happens.

I'll be very curious to hear how it performs for you. I hope everything works out. The horror stories coming from ATN owners have persistently scared me away from their products. 700$ for an electronic sight is a whole bunch of not-screwing-around money, and it is hard to stomach the fact that many customers seem fundamentally unable to get in touch with ATN's customer service and have to resort to their social media marketing department instead. The whole thing has sadly just been less than impressive.

And there is one other big red flag about ATN in my eyes: the dishonesty of their reviews. Over the years I've noticed/learned something, and that is to try to avoid companies which are dishonest when it comes to reviews. If you're going to fake something so small to try and superficially boost your image, what other deceitful practices are you willing to engage in? And why do your reviews need a boost in the first place? Anyway point is if there is one red flag about a company, and an almost guarantee that if something goes wrong I'm going to get burned, it is a company that fakes their reviews.

No company, and I mean NO company, gets perfect reviews. Maybe some customer clicks one star by accident, or maybe some customer has a shipping issue which is out of your control (it happens and is unavoidable), maybe some customer is just a little special or won't RTFM, or maybe some customer thinks three stars means the product is "just fine, nothing wrong." Either way reviews always follow a normal distribution, even on a fantastic product, you'll see (hopefully) mostly five stars, some four, a few three, and just a couple two stars and a slightly higher bump of one stars. If you don't see this, it is a MAJOR red flag. Why do I bring this up? This is why:
https://www.atncorp.com/reviews

I just scrolled through all twenty pages, just to double check. All the reviews are four and five star, not a single one star review to be found. Skimming their entire website I found only one 3 star review. NOWHERE did I see a single one star or two star review.

Now compare that with Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/ATN-Corporation-X-Sight-Optics-Vision/product-reviews/B079JYL16W/ref=cm_cr_dp_d_show_all_top?ie=UTF8&reviewerType=all_reviews

And this optic is better reviewed than many of theirs. Now how about optics planet?
https://www.opticsplanet.com/reviews/reviews-atn-atn-x-sight-4k-pro-edition-smart-day-night-hunting-rifle-scope-with-full-hd.html

Same deal. Now how about the BBB?
https://www.bbb.org/us/ca/south-san-francisco/profile/building-materials/american-technologies-network-corporation-1116-71818

Seven complaints, only some resolved, and one five star review that reads like it was written by an employee. Not great.

So here I am, like a jerk, saying negative things about an expensive toy which you're probably excited about. Why bring it up? Because please please please be careful. Test it thoroughly and quickly, know your options for resolution if something goes wrong, and be prepared and proactive. I'd hate to see another person get screwed by ATN.

I hope this was helpful and taken in the spirit in which it was intended, which is to say concern for a fellow forumite. :) I really want you to thoroughly enjoy this sight, or at the very least get your money back without a huge hassle should it not live up to expectations.

I bout the ATN x-sight 4k pro 3-14 along with that ABL range finder 1000 on Friday...sent it back and got a full refund on Monday through Amazon....had nothing but trouble with ABL...thae scope worked fine with the Exceptions of a few freezes....but the ABL range finder was a whole different story...it was burning through batteries every 20 mins....i had the latest update software installed...still burning through batteries....for my pesting needs the ABL range finder was totally Necessary as it took to much time to Manually dial in the range...Buy that time the pest is gone...But for those who are shooting at a set Distance that ATN X-sight is Perfect...

STO, i take NO exceptions to your assessments. in fact, it is very similar to the spread of reviews i saw. this sucker as of now is a coin flip. saw the upside from edgun leshey. heard about the downside from others. i finally decided to take a chance. if i fail, i will sell to another who may be more competatant with the software. my theory is many guys don't want to fiddle with all the updates or apps. neither do i, if i can make it work fairly easy, great, if not, i will not bother with it.

however, i will give the most practical assessment i can. the idea being i can give fellow airgunners a clear idea what this thing is all about. if it is a downer, i take a few hundred dollar hit and move on. so we will see what happens, wish me luck!

I’ve had my ATN 4K Pro 3-14 for 2 months. My experience so far...... Frustrating

I love the picture at night. The included IR Illuminator is garbage. I bought the next level up which is about 150 on Amazon.

The scope: Love the night time picture. That’s all I use it for. During the daytime the image when zoomed in is very grainy and not good. Zoomed out is very clear. The software IS FULL OF BUGS! WiFi connection is useless and makes the scope freeze/ lockup. Something as easy as renaming a profile is almost impossible and the only way to do it is via WiFi.

The ballistic calculator works really good. I have the ATN range finder and when I range the target with it, it automatically sends the info to the scope and it zeroes the scope for that distance. Works pretty well so far. I have mine zeroed at 20 yards and saw a pigeon at 96 yards 2 days ago. 10 seconds later: dead pigeon.

So I keep mine on a dedicated gun just for that scope. Not my primary gun, not my primary scope. It’s a Diana Skyhawk with a Huma reg. My primary guns are FX Wildcat MKII, my FX IMPACT and HW110 on all those I have traditional scopes because the picture is way better.

So my opinion is don’t buy it for a primary scope, the sight picture is not good enough. Buy it for a cool toy to hunt at night and take videos on a dedicated rifle. Expect some frustrations with the software!

This scope is not for non technical people. It’s like a digital camera with a reticle. To get the max out of it, you need to think of it as a digital camera, and not as a traditional scope. I’ll give my mom a $2k SLR, but she’ll still take horrible photos.

If you have an understanding of photography you’ll maximize what this thing can do. As with any digital cameras, the picture will get grainy at max zoom... the ATN is no different. Shoot 5-10x and zoom with post editing if you want to. Use the sun shade to get even more daytime clarity. One thing I see people doing as well is enabling the extended zoom feature. This is such a dumb feature, as of course you’d want that... right? Nope, it will degrade the clarity even at base mag. Stupid feature. Turn it off.

the #1 thing I see people do wrong is zeroing. It’s written pretty clearly in the manual, but no one ever reads it. You have to zero at base mag, and then use the zoom within the zeroing menu. This will screw everything up, and you’ll want to throw the thing against the wall.

I shoot from 8 to 50 yards and have hours of footage showing what it can do.

In regards to ABL. I’m not surprised you didn’t get the ABL to work. There’s no GA drag profile, so you’re jamming a square peg into a round hole. Its like getting annoyed a Porsche key doesn’t work in a Jeep Wrangler. There’s a workaround that makes it work for now by manipulating the data, but it’s not perfect. I’m working with ATN to get integrated data directly from pellet manufactures + a GA drag profile now. No time table yet, but engineers are talking to the right people within the airgun industry.

I’ll do a video soon with the scope and ABL. I think I’m going to try the Thor as well for fun. Crazy thing to put on top of an airgun, but so is spending $2k on a BB gun 😂
