Atlas V8 Bipod Real or Knockoff

I acquired a rifle with a bipod.
Atlas Bipod
The only difference I can see is the label on the front of the Bipod

The problem is it appears they early models look just like the first picture. Since the rifle is an older model it is quite possible a real Atlas. The extra verbiage is a more recent addition.

So is there any way to determine if this is a real Atlas ($294 retail) or knockoff ($10 + $9 shipping) Alibaba knockoff?

I see absolutely no difference in the rest of the bipod.

I’d say that it is almost certainly a copy. I have a real one and a knock off and it is pretty obvious which is which when you compare them side by side. Though I’ve only got the partial image of yours to go by here, one shows one obvious (to me) dead giveaway and one slightly less obvious one. The former is the rough face and edges on the part I have circled in your photo. On my real Atlas those are cleanly machined stainless steel, where as the copy is clearly die cut with the telltale roughness of a punched part that is clearly seen. The later less obvious clue is seen in the sharp edges of the machined aluminum block of the copy versus the nicely deburred original. You can actually see this too if you look for it in your two pictures. There are other differences when comparing them in person, but I’ve picked from what I can see here. That’s not to say that the knockoff is a bad part, it’s just obviously not produced to the same standard.

Edited to add: Scotay42 posted his photo while I was composing my post. His picture pretty clearly shows what I covered in my comments.

Not the same knockoff.
Mine has the same lettering
QD is much more similar, no lettering on the knockoff, but function is the same down to the locking lever.

Only real identifying difference is the machined vs stamped index cam.

I scraped on the legs, appear to be anodized, I got a small scratch but it took effort.
