Athlon Rangecraft Velocity Pro Radar Chronograph

@chuckster636 I simply said I was curious in terms of calibrated accuracy. I’m not sure sure where all of this is coming from. My targets tell me where to hold. I don’t rely on ballistic software. There is a lot I can say, but it’s mostly for my own use so it’s not worth discussing further.

What concerns me most about the Rangecraft is when shooting against my ProChono I’m seeing up to 24 fps variances in the velocity readings. I don’t know which unit is more accurate. The Athlon is consistently picking up shots where the ProChrono is not. The top photo is from the Rangecraft. The bottom photo is from my ProChrono DLX. The photos below reflect a shot string from the same rifle and its reading were taken simultaneously by both units. Notice that there isn’t a lot of variance in velocity between shots. The ES is 10 fps on the ProChrono and ES is approximately 8 on the Rangecraft.

The Athlon is still a lot more convenient and a versatile option to use while shooting. It’s lees cumbersome, takes up less space, and doesn’t require the unit to be placed in a position where it can get shot by accident. It consistently reads shots in varied lighting (overcast days where cloud cover may intermittently cover the sun).

trying to decide do i really need this ? I really only care about FPE and FPS and my little China one does that for $14 . So the only advantage i see is set up time . But maybe if i buy this i will find other uses ?
@beerthief The Rangecraft doesn’t need to be in front of your rifle Stan. I set mine up next to my rifle on a tall Trigger Sticks Tripod. I also like that I can put it in my pocket and use it just about anywhere. Just before hunting I can use it while I verify my zero. That’s invaluable to me during hunting season because I don’t have to do much of anything different to obtain a velocity reading other than setup a tripod next to my rifle.
