Athlon Optics Helos BTR GEN2 6-24x56 Rifle Scopes

I don't think there is a better scope for the money for hunter field target.
tell me I’m wrong!
Athlon are my fav but for my needs it was Argos BTR GEN2 8-34x56 for long distance shooting for hunting and targets. Now I have a DNT Zulus 5-20x with range finder. I did give up magnification but I gained in engaging targets at unknown distances day and night. I bought mine before the price hike.

I don’t shoot Field Target but I do have that very scope on my Panthera hunting rifle. I have never used a nicer long range scope. Super consistent turrets. I can dial up and down all day long and it always returns to zero. It is a heavy dude though😁.

Not sure I can say it is the best HFT for the money but certainly a scope that is suitable - I use one to compete in hunter field target on a BRK Sniper. The glass is good and APRS6 reticle is thick enough at 16x to not strain my aging eyes. The 0.2 mil graduations are helpful in accurate holdover aiming. As far as ranging it does OK but I often struggle at the 40-55 yard distances.

The two best scopes I have ever looked through for ranging at 16x in the 40-55 yard range have been the Falcon X50 FT and the Konus Pro F30 8-32x56.

I'm not sure this scope is the best for ranging at 16x but it has worked well on my super nice and expensive 22rf for years, enough so I left it on there since it's a little inappropriate to the rifle. A new scope would have to be HUGELY superior for me to change this one out.
I could put my S&B on that gun but it's on my Thomas HPX instead.

About the only scope I can think of that I'd want on that 22rf is a ZCO 4-20 and I don't want to spend the money.

For Airguns absolutely! I think Athlon Helos Gen2 scopes are fantastic and hit the sweet spot in quality, glass, turret feel, locking turrets, weights, options on magnification, and price.

The only other option I have gone to other than the Helos G2 is the Vortex Strike Eagle 3-18.

I would love to own a ZCO, I mean who wouldn’t if money was no object. They are truly the best scopes made. But in really why? Kahles makes a truly beauty scope in the K525i thats a masterpiece. Even a Leupold Mark 5 is excellent and well priced For the everyday sportsman.

C_Does has some good commentary about ZCO. Basically it boils down to this. The scopes are fantastic, glass no other scope manufactured can touch them. However same with cost. They are outrageous on price. There are so many outstanding options available that unless you just want to own a ZCO you can find Something very very similar and still have some money left for your kids college. lol

Big Athlon fan

Started with one Athlon Optics Helos BTR GEN2 6-24x56 in Hunter Field Target. Ranging becomes very soft from 45 to 55 yds at 16x.

Now have three HERAS SPR 15-60×56 SFP MOA, snaps into focus for 45-55 yds even at 15x which is marked. One ARES ETR UHD 15-60×56 BLR1 SFP IR MOA just as snappy, illuminated center dot, less chromatic aberration, minor better focus.

For the similar price, Heras easily out performs the Helos for ranging and image quality.
