Athlon Midas tac vs Bushnell match pro

I can share that I have had both the Midas Tac 6-24 and a Bushnell Forge 2.5-15x50 which I believe share in part the new design of the Match Pro. If that is the case and it has similar mechanicals as the Forge along with good glass I would say the Match Pro would be an excellent value. They are of similar weight (<=4oz) though the Midas is .6-1" longer. The glass in my Forge was superb along with a good eye box at 15x and nice DOF. The Forge was a SFP. I have since moved to FFP. The Athlon Midas Tac I thought was mechanically equal to the Bushnell but the IQ for me and my eye sensitivities started to degrade above 20x on the Midas Tac, just me. It has been returned. This comparison was done against my Ares ETR.

As we know everyone's eyes are different. These observations are my experience in my environment.

Being that the Bushnell Match Pro can only be purchased through Bushnell at this point and it runs $130-$300 less than a Midas Tac, it might be well worth the effort to test it against what you have now. Bushnell has a 30 return policy (you pay return). Enjoy your research.

They are both good, but the Match Pro is only $499 vs the same spec Athlon is more like $700. I bought the Match Pro for my M3 when using the .25 barrel kit and for a step up I have the Vector Optics 5-30x56mm Continental FFP 34mm when using the .357 barrel and has the 10 yard parallax like the Match Pro. For the price the Match Pro I think is a better value than the Athlon. When you go to the more expensive Athlon scopes then the parallax often is 25 yards which not as nice.

I Midas Tac focuses down the 10yards, not 25yards.

I know bc I bought it over the Arken, bc the Arken only goes down to 25 yards. Also the reticle on the Athlon is nearly unmatched for a FFP 6-24x50 - Esp the #3 reticle. I have the #2 but the #3 and #4 have that TINY dot in the middle....amazing!!

I know this is an old topic but I hope it helps the next person!
