Athlon Midas TAC gen 2 - Wow!

How would you compare Athlon Midas line to the Vortex Vemon. I've seen then on sale for $420 out the door and super nice.
The 1st Gen MT's were already superior to equivalent line'd Vortex.

In fact I have a very disappointing Vortex Razor LHT 4.5-22x50 that I would put behind a MT in most ways "especially turret wise". Though IQ is about the same.

Gen 2 MT = and it's game over..............

Just got the newly released Athlon Midas TAC gen2 5-30x56 FFP scope. Everything the gen 1 is known for plus better glass and higher mag. Only focus down to 20 yards at full mag, but that wasn’t a concern for me.

I think this scope is every bit as good as the Ares ETR 4.5-30x or Cronus 4.5-29x (I have both) for significantly less $$$. Turrets function perfectly with good clicks and lots of elevation adjustment (30 Mil).

I will be using it on the new .30 Daystate Black Wolf Chassis with Tube and 23 inch pellet barrel that I am getting next week. Looking forward to a great EFT GP combo!
Have you ever owned a Arken SH4J Gen II? I have found it to be extremley clear but would like to know if you have owned one and could tell a difference? This thing is a lot heavier than the Athlon.

No, but I bought an Arken EP4 in 2020 when they first came out and it is very good. I still have it. I’d say though that the optics on the Midas TAC gen2 are better. Turrets are equivalent.

Really good specs for being 34mm tube, over 15” long. Weight is very reasonable at 30oz for not just competition but hunting as well, especially with the illumination. Be most curious how the eyebox and darkening stacks up at higher magnification to see how much of the 30 power is usable.
