I've been flip flopping on FFP scopes. A couple of years ago, I had nothing but SFP scopes. Then about two years ago, I started getting nothing but FFP scopes, but shortly thereafter I started "clicking" or dialing" for my yardages. If that is your primary method of adjusting your scope for range, the FFP has no advantage over SFP, and in fact can be a disadvantage since at lower mag the reticle can be very small. I recently bought a scope for my new Delta Wolf (whenever that will be?) and I bought the Athlon Midas BTR 4.5-27x50 Mil/Mil SFP scope. Glass is equivalent to the Midas TAC, turrets are just as good if not better, and it has an IR reticle. I've been using the ScopeWerks turrets almost exclusively dialing these days, and the Midas BTR was a better choice for me than the Midas TAC (I have two Midas TAC scopes). I have one Athlon Ares BTR and I see no difference in clarity or contrast between those and the Midas BTR. In fact, it appears to me that the Midas BTR is an SFP version of the Ares BTR FFP.
