I have the Athlon Midas Tac and I think it is the most CRIMINALLY underrated scope on the market!!
1st, the reticle (APLR 4) is in my opinion the single nicest reticle on any scope!! This is the one with the floating center dot.
The glass is wayyyyy beyond it's price range as well.
The turrets have no slop and are crisp and audible.
Compared to the Element Titan, Vortex Viper, Leupold 3, Zeiss Conquest, Bushnell Forge...I think the Midas wins easily. The Meopta 6 or the Trijicon TR23 are only scopes in this price range that I would buy aside from the Midas Tac. (These are my opinions of course)
Cons: I do not like that the windage turret is capped. I never saw a need for this. If you own this scope or have ever used it you know there is ZERO chance of it getting bumped and moving.
There is no illumination (which I believe is the only feature that separates it from the Ares BTR) I do not need illumination but it you do you may want to take this into consideration.
IF I ever upgrade (which I really do not find necessary) but I would go to the Tract Toric or Maven RS-4. I'd also consider the Cronus of course, depending on how much of a difference there is with the glass.
