Athlon Midas HMR 2.5-15x50 Second Focal Plane

I got my Athlon Midas HMR 2.5-15x50 Second Focal Plane from UPS yesterday afternoon. I quickly mounted it but didn't have time to shoot it I was running out of day light. I was very pleased with how clear it was. I can also see the reticle well. Oh and the illumination could be seen during the day also.

This morning I went out to sight it in. On my scope the tracking is not good. I usually get sighted in real close at 10 - 15 yards. Then move my target out to the zero distance with my Taipan standard I zero at 40. I had trouble sighting in. I only needed to move my windage about 1/2” I dialed three clicks left shot two pellets in the same hole, moved three more clicks still no change, moved three more clicks my pellet shoots 1” left. I start moving right and got the same results. I had to resort to over rotating the turret then turn back and tap on the turret. I finally got the scope sighted in and the scope holds zero. One thing I notice, the turrets are stiff to turn with very positive clicks.

If I never plan to dial the turrets the scope would be satisfactory I guess. The parallax adjusts very nice and the scope is really clear. So what should I do? I bought it online, great price, service and shipping. So do I go to them for service or do I contact Athlon. I am leaning toward contacting Athlon but thought I would ask. It really isn’t the vendor fault.

I don't have any doubts that Athlon will help me out. I called them last week before I got the scope in the mail. I talked to someone for quite a while. He was very helpful and friendly. I will say again I am very pleased with the clarity of the scope. And I realize there will always be a product that slips thru in production that has a problem. This in no way has soured me toward Athlon. I am actually excited because I have never had an inexpensive scope impress me this much.
