Athlon Cronus BTR Owners?

I have owned several Cronus scopes, pre BTR. They improved the turrets and such since then, but I liked the old reticle better personally. It is one of my favorite scopes at $1400 new and $1100-1200 used. It is manufactured by LOW, where many other high end scopes are made. For the price, I think it is hard to beat if you are looking in that range. There are several more scopes that have come out over the past year and are coming out that might give it more of a run for its money. I would like to try the XTR III, but haven't gotten around to it. I think it fits very well in the price range it is in.

I like it better enough that I would pay the premium for it over $700-1000 scopes, if it were my only scope. It is no NF ATACR, but isn't priced to be. Many of my best 22lr scores were with the Cronus, when the only variable (besides environment) was the scope. I always curious if there is something better (higher or lower priced), so I have been trying many other scopes out. Of the ones I've personally tried, the Cronus is my overall favorite due to the quality and price point combination.

How does the Chronos compare to the Delta Stryker and Element Nexus and Sightron SIII and Nightforce SHV? Yo

Delta Stryker - I owned the high mag SFP version, so not direct comparison. Optically, I would say very similar. I did not have them at same time, so would be hard for me to have perfect comparison. I have read by optics gurus that they are basically the same scope. That being said, Athlon has the better warranty and is more readily available in the US, so I would go Athlon.

Element Nexus - Haven’t owned and probably won’t as that mag range isn’t for me.

Sightron SIII - I have owned several 10-50’s, but no other mag ranges. Great value for the money, but not the best glass by far. SV is a major step up, on par with Delta and Vortex Golden Eagle. But those are also all over the $700-900 price point of a SIII. Better compared to an Ares BTR.

NF SHV - Nothing about that scope has ever tempted me in any way.

I've owned a Cronus BTR and had the older Cronus. I feel the same way as you do. That was a fail on Athlon's part to depart from the nice .2 mil reticle in the older version! Of course I'm partial to it since I helped design that reticle.

I haven't looked through the Stryker but have compared the Cronus, a March FX-5-40x56, and a S&B PM2 5-25, all side by side. The March and the Cronus were close enough to the same that any differences were slight, the S&B was superior to both, especially the warmth of the image quality and resolution.

I was just looking through a S3 10-50 yesterday, the Midas TAC I compared had better glass when both scopes were on 14x. We had 5-6 scopes we were comparing at the same time and 3 of them only went to 14x so that is why we chose that magnification.
