Ataman AP16 Compact - wow!

I received a backup today and I'm blown away by it. If youre into collecting PCP pistols this one looks promising. YO!

Nice rig!

Too bad so many of you have to compromise OA length with muzzle devices, just to be able to shoot your guns.

Living on my own 40 acres has me spoiled to hearing exactly what I'm getting, and enjoying shorter, less cumbersome rigs. Like these-

Yeah... I sure feel bad for you guys. But if it makes you feel any better, it took me a lifetime to realize my dream. A long lifetime. Consequently, I don't take it for granted.

You can read more about it, assuming you have a strong constitution-

WOW

I bought an Ataman AP16 one year ago ; I love the look of this pistol , moreover it's very accurate up to 30 yards with the JSB 14 gr. I've never tried to shoot further , but I think it shoud be accurate up to 50 yards.

Two weeks ago I got the Ataman conversion kit . Now it looks more a mini-carbine than a pistol , but it increases accuracy .Just two screws to be removed and it's a pistol again😊.

The silencer is Weirauch ; works very well.

I really like this pistol also. I've owned many nice AG match pistols, but I always wanted a .22 cal version that had some power. The Ataman fills the bill. It is loud but I'm fortunate to live in a forest home where noise is not an issue. I'm getting 30 shots @ 620fps with JSB 13.4 pellets.

Like mentioned above, I agree that the Russian triggers are terrible IMO. I installed a spring plunger screw in place of one of the adjustment screws so that it now has a nice predictable two stage trigger.

I did a similar mod to my Leshiy, changing the trigger stop screw for a plunger, and adding a spring under the trigger guard so that the trigger returns to it's normal position if you decide to bail on the shot.

Russia makes some great AG's, but I don't understand why many of there trigger mechanisms have the single stage with lots of creep before let off...ugh.

I added some firearm adjustable fiber optic sights so as to maintain a compact pistol, that enables my aging eyes to focus better than the factory open sights.

that is a cool conversion........ i want one! where do i find that? i am also intrigued by the customizations on the trigger - -----stock - these have a hair trigger without much feel to them........... any info on how to make this a bit more "friendly" ?

scottblair - i like the sights, but....... i have the same problem with vision - it is hard to focus the target & the sights in the same plane any more..... kind of why i like a scoped rig ........--- & once i put the Donny on , it kind of interferred with the open sight view....... so i scoped it......... nice grip!

Does it affect accuracy? Scope mounted to outer shell chassis like that? The pistol already has scope rails under that. Yo!

HI Yo , no the accuracy is not affected by this kind of montage ; the pistol is thightly secured and doesn't move at all in the chassis. This kit is really well-made , finish is excellent .I 'm just looking for a good compact scope to put on ; the one on the picture ( no brand) is a cheap one, no mil-dot reticle. I was thinking of a Dedal Stalker , but the price...😖. It will be reserved for my next gun : the Edgun Leshyi 😁.

Yo - I ordered a P2C kit in compact silver. It's definitely a sexy and well designed unit. Very stable - mounts attach to the dovetail on the AP16 in two spots with two screws at each point to secure to the pistol and then each mount screws into the frame from the top securing it.

I'm testing out a few different scope on it to see what I like best. The Dedal Stalker is a win as it keeps the overall profile light - but it spends it's time atop my Leshiy. I recently acquired a US Optics TS-12X when I was pointed to a really good deal and it makes an excellent choice for the carbine conversion.

The one thing you will probably want to get are high dovetail ring for mounting you pistol scope or sight if you plan to switch back and forth between pistol and carbine. Removing the pistol from the P2C is easy, but you won't want to line up the mounting clips every time. The P2C mounts are pretty high and low scope rings will not clear it.

I also made the choice to not use the front lower piece. I felt it bulked up the package too much and I didn't need the extra rails.

It's not a Leshiy - it's a pistol in a carbine conversion. So all of the action, air storage, etc is still contained within the form of the pistol. My compact is pushing ~12.5fpe so I imagine the standard size would be in the ~14fpe range. I've played with the hammer spring and there isn't much tuning to be done ootb. I believe the regulator is contained within the air tube as that's where the breather hole is. There's not much space for air - so trying to make this into something it's not (a high power pistol) probably isn't going to work out as well. I would say it competes directly with the HW44 and the FX Ranchero.
