You have a regulator that creeps. It’s no shocker, everyone who has this gun either has a creepy reg or eventually will have a creepy reg. When your gun sits, the reg lets the pressure build higher than it’s set point. When you fire the first shot, you now don’t have enough hammer spring tension to overcome the higher pressure. This is a big deal when you are shooting pellets that weigh 18+grains. Your first shot being that much slower at 30 or more yards is no good. Especially if you are shooting critters. Because now you are either missing or wounding them. Buy a regulator. It’s part of the process with these guns.
Vetmx,
Thanks for elaborating on the regulator topic, this was really helpful!
I touched base on it up above, but, wanted to hit you back 'in person' about a few things you mentioned.
Reg Creep. Gothca! And I explained that I noticed that same sort of thing happening with other guns - no regulated too..
So that has always been a bit odd, but, expected at the same time.. I read that the P16 OEM regs were also hit/miss..
Most people recommend HUMA regs as being a fantastic upgrade!
Shooting pellets in excess of 18 grains of weight.. Ah, now this is a good one!
While inside, I almost always just go with the Crosman Premier 14.13 grain pellets,
all of the other pellets that I have [and use with all of my guns] are H&N and JSB - weighing 17, 18, 21 gr and more..
So that info helps also! More so when I can get outa' the house, and shoot outside - needing heavier options for longer shots.
Cool. Noted!
Reg and LW barrel - 2 High Priority things on my list for the P15 for sure!
I'll probably just go with the barrel first.. I really appreciate you taking the time to give the heads up and added info!
Thanks again!
