Arizona hunting questions

I just received news that I will be going on a business trip to the Tucson area for a little while. I don't have to work weekends, so instead of sitting in my hotel room, I figured I'd bring my Marauder and do some hunting. I have a few questions before I plan my trip. Do you need a license to hunt collared doves and jack rabbits? I know some states don't require a hunting license to hunt pests. My second question is where can I hunt? Is there any state land within an hour drive or so of the Tucson area? I do plan on going to AoA while I'm there, so hopefully they can help me out a little. My boss loves the excitement I have for this trip, I just don't have the heart to tell him it's not because of work Any suggestions on where to go and what to look for would be greatly appreciated.

Collard doves are fine to shoot. Check on the jacks I think you may need a license
when I lived in AZ I just went out in the desert and hunted. No one ever bothered me

Yes you need a hunting licence to hunt anything in AZ. I live in Tucson and the hunting is not so great, collard doves are farther north in Phoenix. What are you going to be doing down here? What part of town? May be able to meet up on the weekend and take you shooting on a farm.

AZBOBCAT, I'll be in the airbase area. It would make my trip if I could do some farm shooting. I'll be sure to get any applicable license when I get there. I'll message you with some details.

Arizona allows air gun hunting, 25 cal and smaller are considered "back yard guns" larger calibers are treated same as firearms. basically what was used for determining this is whether or not a pellet would pass through a buildings wall or a cars door.

However, I haven't been able to get a definitive answer as to whether airguns are considered firearms for purposes of the seasonal restriction, which begins tomorrow.

Unfortunately my business trip has been canceled. Oh well. There will be another opportunity for me to go to Tucson for my job. My boss said I was unusually heartbroken about the trip cancellation. Go figure.
