So I've want to buy an inexpensive bb/pellet pistol but I don't like the idea of having to buy tanks of CO2 and having to expel all of the gas from the tank. Are there any single shot pistols, where you must cock the gun before each shot?

I am really enjoying the Beeman single pneumatic pump pistols. They are extremely accurate and have great triggers.
The least expensive one is the Beeman P17 and it is around 30 bucks but performs like it's 300 dollar predecessors. This is the most inexpensive best bang for your budget pistol I've seen.

The mention low cost beeman is a really nice rig, shocked me when I purchased one ONLY because of the price. The trigger while a bit heavy - not so bad- breaks clean , silent firing, it grouped! They ( price eh? I went back to walmart & got the last 2 ) like the lowest cost wad cutters you could fine, didnt really matter at all at 10 yards and at 20 any crosman wad cutter grouped well enough to hit a bottle cap every time.
Any true " spring" pistol will not be as much fun to use as an ssp or co2.

I have a super cheap 1377 Crosman it's a piece but has been flawless and shoots pretty straight. Even killed a pigeon with it haha, multi pump but still fun.

I have an old school Webley Tempest. Great pistol out to ten meters and all metal construction.

The Beeman P17 is a very accurate pistol with a great and I mean great trigger. This one is too good to pass up

Cheap go with the p17 single stroke pneumatic. If you want to spend a little more the browning 800 express is a powerhouse im .22.
If money isn’t an option beeman p1/ hw45 is thr absolute best spring pistol ever made hands down imo. Very hold specific but laser accurate, hits hard and will last generations w proper care. They are all metal, feel and look like a real 1911 just slightly larger. 1911 grips fit them as well.
