RAW Rapid Are higher powered PCP's more difficult to shoot accurately?

My two 200s at the 30 yard challenge were both with 22s at about 32 fpe. My P35-22 shooting 21 grain H&Ns about 820 fps (about all it will do). The other was with my Caiman X shooting H&N Baracuda 18s about 910 fps. Both were shot off a fairly heavy bipod and using my home made windage and elevation adjustable monopod in the rear. The Caiman is heavier than the P35 but neither are heavy guns. The scope position on the target may shift a little when I fire with them but it appears to happen after the shot leaves the barrel.

This year my bests have been 197s and several 198s (so far). One of the 198s is with my P35-25 which has a P35X barrel on it and is shooting FX 25.4s over 900 fps for 46-47 fpe. I shot the 198 with the Primary Air 4-14 it normally wears. I moved my 10-40 Athlon target scope to that rifle thinking I could quickly get a 200 but it hasn't happened yet. This year I am using a Rock BR front rest and wood+lead blocks I attach to the forward picatinny rail to fit into the front rest. I use a bunny bag at the rear. The Rock BR rest is more solid and more easily adjusted than my old bipod/monopod setup but it hasn't helped scores yet.

My P35-177 has produced more 30 yard challenge targets than the others but not more good ones. I'm going to try some JTS pellets. It is about 19 fpe and it stays put through recoil. I hold all the guns the same. I let the rest support them and minimize my contact. I shoot sometimes sitting on a bucket with sticks and standing too but I am not trying for top bench rest scores when I do that.

Long way of saying I do not think fpe for 177-25 caliber air rifles affects at least my ability to shoot a decent target with them. Even at 50 fpe there is effectively no recoil. Nothing like shooting my 8 lb 30-06. Recoil when you are kind of getting pounded can easily be a factor. But with small bore air rifles I find them to be similar to shoot decently.

Most high-power PCPs are optimized for hunting, where terminal performance is key. The extra energy delivers deeper penetration and expansion, making them ideal for larger game when shot placement is spot-on. But with great power comes the need for great discipline — and that’s where skill, setup, and practice separate the casual shooter from the serious marksman. So, in short" yes.

Your tune can make it jumpy. If the reg is set higher then necessary and or you are pushing more air than you need for a particular projectile weight and velocity, ie not efficient. The gun is going to be jumpy. I have an HM1000x .22cal tuned to about 48ftlbs and I would not describe it as jumpy at all.
That energy level in a raw is a really nice buttery setup.

My reg is currently set to about 135 bar. In my rig, I've found it to be jumpy at higher reg pressures (up to about 160 bar IIRC). There is still slight movement with each shot, but it's fairly efficient. I'm getting about 120 shots from 200 bar down to just below the reg setting.

My raw 22 came tuned to shoot 25 jsb @ 950 fps. I brought it down slightly to 885 fps and it shoots well. I bought some 18gr jsb and found them to shoot same poi.and accuracy same. I use it as a bench gun and shot in a fun local shoot last winter. Range is indoors and heated and 50 feet. Competed with mostly 22 powder shooters.
My reg pressure is 145.

I have found tweaking a gun to operate at it’s max or near max potential usually ends up making a finicky gun.
I prefer to let my guns operate in a more relaxed state. Harmonics seem easier to tame when you are not trying to make a PB out of an AG.
I think people forget that they are shooting an air gun and they come with specific restrictions and that those restrictions are part of the appeal.

Gerald in south Africa.. has alot of moderators, he sometimes use the weight if the moderator to tune the harmonics, you will see some of his high power slug buids using a Ronin, not particularly pretty or quiet but the Ronin is a heavy ass moderator to tame that barrel jump when the heavy slug goes out. That could be a solution in your case maybe a YOKOZUNA since like the Impulse could be change in size .. the YOKOZUNA weight 5 time more than the Impulse.
I never tried the larger DFL.
I found the STO Sarrisa was the best on my Gauntlet G30. I had a Sumo originally but there were some issues with accuracy. The Terminador big barrel band was the final piece. 40 yards and 1/2" groups ( on my good days). And full Gauntlet power.

Huma Mod 50 was as good as the Sarrissa. But that is on my AEA Terminator.
