Tuning Are FX AMP regulators the same in all FX guns?

Depends on when it was made. Regulator piston length and belleville diameter were different on early production guns compared to later production models (I know this is true for the crown, as a friend has an early production crown.)
I want to say most guns produced in the last couple years are interchangable for the most part as far as the regulator components-- but the best way to tell is pull up the parts diagrams on FX's support page and compare part numbers.

I know that the early Impact guns pre 2017 had two lengths of regulator rods thus a different Bellevue washer count. I thought that the AMP reg was that way also but FX diagrams only show one regulator rod after 2017. It has the same part number as the Maverick unit as does the regulator housing and regulator screw. So it looks as if they are the same exact units.

I was pretty much referring to guns from the last 2 years. I'll ask another dumb question. I know one criticism of the AMP regs is the plastic piston. Has anyone used a Huma piston with an AMP reg body? Reason I ask is, although I like Humas regs, I do not like the slotted insertion/adjustment screw, and there is no degassing screw. I had to open the air gauge to bleed my gun. Sounds simple, but I have upgraded gauges with the black plastic covers. After 1/2 hour of fighting to get the black plastic cover off the gauge, it's easy.

The Huma regs regulator rods/pistons are not compatible with the FX units. Or at least they were not when I checked a couple of years back with my early Impact-X. They are built differently. Not sure if you could modify one to make it werq easily.
I find no fault with the plastic FX units although mine was defective from FX. So, I got a Huma and ,as you have already stated, I really hated the slotted screw adjustment and found it very difficult to use in comparison to the hex FX regulator adjustment screw. So, I bought an FX reg rod/piston and then polished up my Bellevue washers so there were no sharp edges to wear on the rod again and put it back where it belonged. It's been good for a couple of thousand rounds now and, with the removal of any sharp edges on the spring washers, I expect it will last much longer than the stock units which usually last a very long time.
Metering wise I did not see that much difference in the two. Although I would probly give a slight edge to the FX unit.
;^) Yes, the black plastic covers are a pain to get off. Mine has been on and off enough times now that I can finally pull it off with my fingers with a bit of werq.

Thanks Bio. I may have to experiment. The Huma extra high pressure regs I got this week do not have a piston that looks like the pic you posted. It looked very similar to the FX piston., with only a small hole in the bottom. If Huma made his with a hex drive, it would be perfect. There is no such thing as a 7mm blade screwdriver, and finding one around 7mm AND the right thickness is near impossible, even though I own multiple full sets of gunsmithing screwdrivers. I was hoping the plastic cover would loosen over time. It would not have been a big deal if I did not need to remove it when brand new to get a wrench on the hex to de-gas.
