Results April TEXtreme Bench-Rest Silhouette match results

Attendance probably stunted by it being Easter weekend, six shooters contested our April TBRS match. In some of the trickiest winds the notoriously-windy Ranchito Robinson has mustered, five shooters contested the 80 Foot Pound (maximum) class, and four contested the 35 Foot Pound class.

As has now become a worrisome habit, Derrick Wall (again) prevailed for the overall win and high overall score on the day with an improbable-for-conditions 38/40. With his .22 RTI Prophet zinging 24.39 grain JSB Redesign at 968 FPS, Derrick posted ten-in-a-row chickens and pigs, missing only one each turkey and ram. The Prophet wears an Athlon 4-27X hat, of course set at 16X as required at TBRS matches. Phenomenal shooting, Derrick!

John Tafoya finished a strong second on the day, posting a fine 36/40 with his .22 Daystate Red Wolf HP shooting 25.4 grain JSBs ONLY 965 FPS. Given the swirling, gale-force winds, that 3 FPS handicap to Derrick’s laser-gun probably accounted for the 2 point difference.😉 John’s rig wears a Tract Optics scope (of undisclosed magnification). He also nailed ten-in-a-row chickens and pigs; the difference in his and Derrick’s scores being decided on the turkey line (with JT missing three, to Derrick’s one missed turkey). Great shooting John.

Jim Clarke also posted a fine 36/40 with his new .22 caliber Red Wolf HP; the second-place tie-breaker between he and JT being Jim only posting one ten-in-a-row. However, what an impressive ten-in-a-row it was; the only score-card on the day reflecting ten rams! JC likes his new Red Wolf. Fine shooting, Jim.

In no way reflecting of shooting talent, but rather to share the entertainment value in it, a Neanderthal wielding a .25 Daystate Delta Wolf (badly) like some kind of high-tech club posted the next higher score by bludgeoning-down 30 little animals. Though Match Director Ron Robinson (aliases- Og, The Manic Compressive, AirNGasman, That F****** Neanderthal, etc) also knocked over ten chickens and 10 pigs, the little turkeys and rams kicked his cave-man butt!

John Tafoya redeemed his second in 80 FP class by winning 35 Foot Pound Class; the wide score differences between the two classes graphically reflecting the extreme… correction, TEXtreme wind conditions. JT’s excellent 29/40 score with his .22 Red Wolf includes ten-in-a-row pigs. He shoots 18.13 JSBs at 925 FPS, that rig also equipped with a Tract Optics scope of undisclosed specifics.

Little surprise that Derick Wall was second in the 35 FP class with a 28/40 score, despite cleaning the chickens and pigs. Again reflective of the power handicap, almost all 35 Foot Pound score-cards showed considerably lower turkey and ram counts than 80 FP cards. Good shooting DW. Though not disclosed on his card, I believe Derrick used a .22 Daystate Pulsar; no doubt shooting 18.13 JSBs near the 35 foot-pound limit.

Happy Shooting All,

Ron
