Apples and Oranges : Huben vs Prophet Perf 22 LR

Hi all, new member here, joined due to the great primer shortage keeping my powder burners at lower usage. This will be my first PCP, but had a RWS 48 ~35 yrs ago, and currently have a Benjamin NP2 era break barrel (terrible).

On to Apples and Oranges:

Huben K1 22 or RTI Prophet Performance 22 long range.

Use: Hobby, target shooting out to ~125 yards, or further if accuracy still there, potential pesting as well.

1. Accuracy: I believe the 20/21 Huben shoots moa @ 50 and ~1.5 moa @ 100 with JSB's and perhaps Vamint Knockers. How much more accurate will the Prophet be?

2. Trigger: Apparently both rifles have fully adjustable 2-stage triggers, and I have seen video of both breaking around 12 oz. What about the feel? Are they equally crisp, or does one roll or mush a bit before breaking? (I shoot Triggertech Diamond's and Tikka's with springs if a comparison can be made)

3. Noise: I will add the largest moderator available, assuming larger=quieter. With equal moderation and both guns set @ say 1050 fps with monster redesigns, will neighbors ears perk up? Quieter than dropping a stack of 5 magazines on a hard wood floor from waist height?

Thanks all for the help - if you have a better rifle suggestion, please articulate why it's better for my use, and comparison if possible with the 3 categories above.

Both these guns where/are targets of mind, I have watch and read all I could fine for the last two+ years , But no hands on>

For "target shooting out to 125 yards", RTI, for "pesting" K1.

K1 trigger more like 2.5lb (from what I have READ/SEEN) RTI trigger A+

I believe Huben do NOT suggest a mod is fitted to the K1, however I know some of the owners on here have them fitted.

good luck

I've had a k1 and now have a priest 2 std spec running around 44ftlb with redesigned now I've played with it. If I had both in front of me and was going hunting I'd choose the priest every time huben was fun and accounted for a lot of pests but the rti just seems to me a nicer rifle accuracy wise the priest gets it sub moa at 100 yard better shot count and miles better trigger. I've shot the priest next to a friends prophet performance and his doesn't do anything the standard priest 2 can't same sort of groupings but he's got a little more power running 49 ftlb in .22 with same ammo. But he's getting a few less shots. Whichever you chose you would be happy with but there would always be that niggle in your head thinking about the other if you can if try both before you buy or at least shoulder them.

Emperor might be a bit overkill at almost a pound plus the extension....I run 0dB on mine and it is very quiet plus seems to help with accuracy and "flip" when running the redesigns at 950+....Lite weight also!

Thanks, I didn't think about barrel rigidity being an issue with a pound hanging off of the end. Is the Prophet Perf and/or are all PCP's that fragile? Fragile enough that I should change my order with Donnyfl, or is it just a concern of being imbalanced shooting offhand? Can you compare firing your rifle with the 0db attached - to some other objective day to day noise? I picked dropping magazines onto a wood floor, as I really have no idea how a PCP sounds in real life, but figured x magazines from y height is something everyone can relate to...

I was able to tune my 2020 K1 .22cal quickly. When I got it, it was shooting 28.5gr Varmint Knockers well, except that I had ~6-7 flyers impacting around 2-3" from the main ~1.25" group (100m).

So what I found was that I had to polish and debur the magazine, polished the bore on my lathe, and I also had to re-crown the barrel to satisfy my OCD.

The result of that effort - consistent sub-MOA accuracy to 100m. I still have 1-2 mag chambers that aren't perfect, but I have a custom order in for a new magazine measuring 0.2225" per chamber. The higher the velocity, the more accurate it shoots (1100fps is ideal, but I only get 16 full power shots before it falls off). 1060fps gives me about full mag when I fill to 35mPa.

It still not as accurate as my Supervets, but it's fun to shoot when I feel like wasting a 97cu-ft tank of air lol

^That sounds great if you've got a lathe. I've been waiting for years for all of these parts to standardize... We should be able to buy off the shelf parts and build what we like with not much more than a torque screwdriver at this point. I'm sure everyone would enjoy making their own monster, and build recipes would coalesce towards the best performers for category.

I have a 2021 k1 and it's been nothing but a joy to shoot. I have did nothing but feed it pellets and 4 clicks up on the power wheel. The accuracy has been excellent and the ergos are much better for hunting. The priest is a nice gun but for me the power, ergos, semi auto and size won me over. In stock form it is very quiet even at higher power levels. I have yet to fill it more them 260 bars and it gives me anywhere from 1 to 2 mags of good shots. I have not adjusted the trigger on this gun and find it's more then adequate for target shooting. Enjoy your priest I'm sure you will get alot of joy out of it.

I have a 2020 K1 in .25. I don't think the trigger is a true 2 stage trigger. The only adjustment is for lenght of pull. No adjustment for pull weight. It's defineitly more than 12oz. More like somewhere between 2 and 3 lbs. It's not too crunchy, but it's definietly not a match trigger.

In terms of sound. The moderator works very well and the gun is very quiet. Mine is putting out 95fpe and the sound is very sedate. If you're going to be getting the .22, I would say there's no need for further sound reduction in terms of not wanting your neighbors to hear.

Yeah, the moderator does a great job. It does get fairly loud when the power is cranked up (>=160bar/16mpa). Threading an additional moderator to it only provides a little bit of sound reduction, due to the heavy porting in the moderated shroud. I might wrap my shroud with heavy nylon fabric to see if it helps reduce the high pitch noise that it generates.
