Ok been working with slug builders for the last few month. Slugs are great when they sync up with the gun bad when they do not. The problems are getting just the right mix. I been super busy on getting certain slugs to work with over the counter stock guns. Two in particular are the Airforce Condor and Crosman Marauder. They have some rifling in the barrel. My experiment today in 7 to 15 mph winds were fairly lack luster at 55 yards. I could easily out shoot the slugs with the 25.4 jsbs. I was getting at best 3/4 to 1.5 inch groups, not great. I decided to say what the heck and go long distance to see the drop. I really did not expect much. What did i find. Here are a few samples. Basically the groups did not open up as I would have expected them to.
Above is out of the .25 Marauder. at 115 yards in high wind. I was really surprised how well they hung in there considering the groups at 55 yards. The funny thing is hitting clay pigeons at 119 yards was not difficult. In comparison there is no way under these conditions that my .25.4 jsbs would of done better. I have seen it all before how the wind man handles jsb pellets. The above was shot from a STOCK .25 Marauder with just barrel cleaning and no tune. I expect in the following weeks to narrow down what will tighen up the groups. The groups were shot around a 2900 PSI fill once the PSI dropped below 2400 groups would open up. Basically I want a method for a low cost gun to shoot slugs with as little modifications as possible.
If you have any questions feel free to ask. I expect to post more on the journey of improved accuracy.
