Sorry if this has been discussed before, but I’d love to grab a HW30S synthetic for my son. They seem to be discontinued in the US, but available in the UK. Can’t find any UK sellers willing to ship to US though.

Welcome to Airgun Nation! Quite the rabbit hole you have chosen. I can see another rifle in your future already! I must congratulate on your rifle choice for your son! The HW30/R7 are the same rifle and luckily they are in stock at Pyramyd.

Airguns of Arizona are out of stock on the HW30 also. No idea of when they are in stock again. I suggest looking at the Beeman R7. They are in stock at Pyramyd right now. It is the same rifle as the HW30 with a beech stock. It is actually cheaper than Krale or Mundilar once you take out the broker fees that people are getting charged for. Purchased from Pyramyd, you get a 30 day money back guarantee.

Purchase some H&N Field Target Trophy 8.64's .177 pellets and your son will be setup. They are good pellets that are always tight in the breech so no pellets will fall out of the breech and cause dry fires. Very important!

Have fun!

Thanks, I really appreciate the advice. I was looking at Krale, but I hadn't heard anything about broker fees. Are these separate from taxes on orders above $800?

And I now have to ask the novice question: are dry fires not recommended? I was just watching a barrel cleaning video and the guy dry fired a few times to clear the oil out. Lots to learn here, glad I found the forum.

I mean fire it with a pellet in it and then go back in with a patch to swipe out any residue that blowed out .

Normal cleaning if uour patch pulls clean then that dry firing is just folly and dumb in my opinion 🥴

Also i guess in my experience only time i have any residue risk blowing out the tube its from a fresh tune or re clean and relube . Not form normal daily cleaning .. then thats just me .

People have reported paying higher shipping / broker fees lately. (AGN has a great search feature. I used "broker" to find this gem that discusses it).

NEVER DRY FIRE A SPRING PISTON AIR RIFLE! It will damage and break the internal spring powering the rifle. (PCP'S can be dry fired with no worries).

The pellets I mentioned earlier are head size 4.52. They are bigger than average (4.5 or 4.51) and really snick into the barrel. The smaller head sized pellets can fall right out of the barrel because they fit loosely. This is bad for beginner shooters! Trust me, I found out the hard way!

Always purchase 4.52 or 4.53 head size pellets! I recommend stocking up on good pellets. I recommend purchasing at least five tins at a time for cheaper shipping costs. They never go bad.

Here is mine all dressed up for the range.

This is a great video that discusses the HW30. Steve does a great job. The only thing that has changed is the stock in nine years!

Buy from Flying Dragons Airguns. Mike has the R7 for the same price as Pyramid Air, but he tunes them.

I kinda wonder what's the real deal on them .

He get new guns from air venturi ( the sole beeman "R" series importer and distributor) spends time and parts money to tune them and sell for the same price as air venturi new at p.a ?

Also funny how he started back in that deal and P.A hsa not offered a referb "R" gun deal ..

Hmmmmm.... Ya, hmmmm....

Thanks, this would be a killer deal, and I never would have found this on my own searching. I do wonder how he makes money off of this though, given what I've learned about the labor that goes into tuning.

Adding to my post above

I thinking hes doing the rma guns and Refurbishing then . Cause why would i pay full new gun price for a gun someone gone into . Its become tampered with used ..not new anymore ..

Just my opinion ..

I would recommend Pyramyd Air / Airgun Depot for your first vendor. They are trouble free and a 30 day warranty. I have never had a bad purchase from them. They have great customer service also.

There are a lot of knowledgable shops and tuners @Motorhead in your area that you can research later If you want the rifle breathed upon.

The biggest part of a HW tune that every owner should do is taking the three or four screws out that hold the rifle into the stock and apply blue loctite or vibra stuffs to prevent the screws coming loose while shooting. This is very crucial to having a consistently accurate springer. Takes five minutes and let it sit over night. The screws still might come loose, don't be surprised if they do.

The R7 is such a nice shooter you might want to purchase two 😀

Agreed. One wasn't enough for me alone. I got one and kept flip flopping it between peep sights and scope. I enjoyed it so much both ways that I bought a second one for myself. Then I got another one for the wife shortly after that. I have a dozen other Weihrauchs but the Hw30s get shot the most here. They're great for inexperienced guests too as they're easy to shoot accurately.

Back in December Krale had them on sale stupid cheap. I bought two. The shipping is the same for two rifles as one. I gave one to a great neighbor as a B-day /Christmas gift and keep the other for stock.

Be well
Ron
