Anyone Use the Laser on the Pard NV007?

I’ve read and seen video of people using it for a couple of things. I’d like to communicate with someone who has used this feature in the field after dark. I’m also wondering if there’s a way to change the color of the laser to green or something less obvious. I can’t see a red laser not giving away your position while hunting. The vague instruction manual that came with this unit provides very little help.

I just got this unit 2 days ago. Didn’t know it had a laser. Red sucks, anything can see it. Will check in again with information.

Based on my experience with the NV-008, it is red dot only (and generally pretty worthless).

Think it's on 008 version only, it can be adjusted to match your cross hairs at a set distance. I find it useful as a pointer when out with others to highlight a target. Never had it spook live quarry.

@Blackadder I haven’t used or examined an 008, but the 007a model that I own has a red laser. Yours can be adjusted? How is it adjusted on the 008? You haven’t experienced laser spooking quarry at night? That sounds promising. What type of animals do you typically hunt? Is this something you use often?

Once again on an NV008, there are small windage and elevation adjusting grub screws on the laser.

I frequently use the laser as a pointer when out with a buddy to highlight a rabbit. Also deer and foxed don't seem to be bothered. It's especially useful when pointing to fallen prey, my friend pointed to the exact spot in rough cover where a rabbit had been dropped last night. Would have been hard to find without using a bright light scaring everything else off.

@TMH Thanks. I can see the difference between the laser on the 008 and 007. On the 007 it’s a single button to turn it on or off so far as I can tell.

Other than that, I don’t really see a use for it. Considering that one will likely already be familiar with their scope/gun combo prior to taking them into the field, using the laser in this fashion shouldn’t be too necessary. I was wondering if others had found another use for it.

@blackadder That’s what I wanted to know. Thank you. I can see it being helpful for a second shooter or to point out downed quarry before someone goes out to retrieve it. If I used it to continue to point it out to them after they’d reached the vicinity I’d detach it from my scope and use it as a monocular from that point in order to continue to help guide them.

I have a Pard NV007. I'm not sure if it's the (a) model but it does have the laser. I only messed with it and in my opinion, it's only good as a laser pointer. First off, the laser is located at the very top of the Pard unit. If you have it zeroed with your scope, the impact will change the closer or father your target is because it sits high above the barrels axis. Also, I have mine mounted on an EagleVision ocular tube adapter. While the EV is a good mount compared to the factory Pard mount, there is still a little play in the attachment. I can see that the laser doesn't line up in the same area as the reticle when I remove or attach the Pard. While it's nice, It doesn't work so well. The best place to mount a laser is as close as possible to the bore's axis either above or below.

@Peskadot671 Thanks for the input. In regards to the Pard mounting ring, have you had issues with it scratching paint off of your scope when placing it over the eyepiece? Is the EV mounting system more protective in this fashion?

I only used the factory eyepiece/ocular adapter once just to see how things would line up. I used the electrical tape that came with it but felt it was a cheesy effort. After that, I didn't use it until my EV adapter came in. A lot better. I'm not sure if it scratches the eyepiece because I haven't removed mine from the optic it's on.
