Anyone shot the HW77 and HW77k?

At one point I had both in 177 and noticed similar accuracy but the long one was noticibly heavier and way too long for my preference so I traded it for a buddy's Sumatra. I'm content with my "k"s thank you. I would think it would be beneficial if you plan on using the long one specifically for field target IMHO. YO!

The longer barrel version HW77 theoretically is less efficient possibly slowing the pellet down throughout its dwell time compared to the "k" carbine in theory may be more accurate too since shorter barrel springers shoot faster which is opposite of PCPs.

In any case since you mention having both Diana 54 and 56 at your disposal which I think are the ultimate long range shooting springers capable of hitting things out to 100 yards and beyond you will probably be disappointed with any HW spring gun in general since your Diana's would EASILY out shoot ANY HW Springer all day long any day of the week CONSISTENTLY past 50 yards. The HW77 or any HW Springer is simply not the tool to shoot at 75 to100 yards which is far beyond their practical limitations for what they were designed to do. An old Theoben (but not the RX series) gas ram guns on the other hand with some air tapped out of their gas strut would give the Diana's a good run at 75 to 100 yards or a Whiscombe. If you want to shoot 75 to 100 yards use a 30 caliber gun almost any 30 caliber gun will put a big grin on your face when shooting at 100 yards especially from FX or RAW and even some Russian or Ukrainian guns such as Edgun or Kaliburgun and Taipan. YO!

YO - A little background. I have many PCPs (several 30 cals) and regularly shoot them out past 200 yards. 100 yards with my Dianas are a piece of cake. I know the HWs will hit cans at 100 yards because I've did it with my 97k in 22 cal many times. I've also did it with my LGUs which are comparable in power with the HWs. I'm not paper punching at those distances, but merely plinking. I like shooting things instead of paper in most cases.

I would suggest the shorter "k" version and really think it would be more accurate than the long one. I have a tuned 22 HW97K doing low 725s and hadn't ever tried shooting it past 50 yards. I have got to try plinking (soda pop) cans at 75 and 100. Never even thought of trying with a recoilling springer. I have used my Huma regulated AR side folding P-Rod carbine with MMHF barrel for those long distance plinking shots just for fun. YO!

Blackdiesel here is some footage of my Hw77 ( long barrel version) shooting pingpong balls at nearly 67 yards (61 metres). If the shorter barrel version is more accurate get one because to me my long barrel Hw77 is the most accurate springer I own. I bought mine after reading a report from BB Pelletier. What ever you choose I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Congratulations on your purchase Blackdiesel. My Hw77 loves the H&N Baracuda Greens 12.65gr better than any other pellet.

I got a 177 cal. I have some Barracuda match pellets. The gun arrived today and I tried the JSB 8.4, Barracuda match and Crossman 10.5. The JSBs seem to be the most accurate at this time. I have several other 177 pellets I need to try.
