Anyone shooting the .216 JSB Knockouts out of a LW (or other) choked barrell?

I've got a Taipan Veteran Long ( .22 ) and am experimenting with various slugs. So far I've had the best luck with .217's - NSA 20.2's in particular. FX Hybrids seem to shoot quite well too. I'm currently working with some 23g NSA's - need to go back down to the range tomorrow and spend more time and tweaking with them . . . curious about the subjected though.

I have the Taipan Vets in .22 cal Standard and .22 cal Long. Both these have the CZ barrels and produce excellent accuracy with the JSB Knockouts .217". The .216"...not so much.

I'm pushing them at ~850 fps.

Same results with my Daystate R HP .22 cal and the Daystate Red Wolf, which produce much greater velocity.

I also have a Veteran .22 long. I ordered a tin of .216 knockouts but haven’t gotten a chance to shoot them yet. Mine shoots the hybrids extremely well but I’m near the end of adjustment on the hammer spring to get them to 930. Not a lot of hope for proper speeds for the JSB in factory form but I wanted to try them. I shot the NSA 20.2 but it was just outside acceptable, ran a bunch through a .216 pellet sizer and groups shrunk but still not as well as the hybrids. At the same spring adjustment for JSB 18 at 890 mine shoots the Griffin 16 ldc cup base at 930 sub moa. Haven’t shot past 100 yards but they’re pretty devastating on organic matter.

@RobR -- I've heard of the Griffin's - haven't tried them (yet). How far have you tried them if not beyond 100 - 80? 90?

Are these the ones you've shot and have (apparently) had pretty good luck with?

@2manyairgunz - yeah -- you guys that got the older ones with the CZ's made out! There was a rumor on here in another thread a week or two ago re: Taipan going back to the CZ's and the barrels by themselves even possibly becoming available for sale - but then that thread just sort of . . . . . stopped. ;-( {shrug shoulders?} I'd buy one in a heartbeat if they do in fact become available.

Those are them. I shot them at 100 yards on a calm morning and was under an inch. Shooting them back to back with JSB 18 at 30, 50, and 75 yards in the wind they were getting less than half the wind drift.

Hopefully you have the same luck with them. My first shot, I thought the slug never left the barrel it was so quiet. Even the noise on impact with a red squirrel is only a quarter of the what I get with the Hades and it leaves 3 times the wound channel.

I shot both the .216 and .217 in my brocock sniper hp with the lw poly barrel. Only had a chance to shoot one mag of each so far. They shot around 870-875 fps in my gun. More testing to come.
