RAW Rapid Anyone Shooting .25 FX Hybrids In A RAW HM1000x?

I Just ordered a few boxes of .25 FX Hybrid Slugs based on Utah Air's claim "*We have tested these slugs out of multiple air rifles with positive results. The RAW HM1000x shoots them very well." Is anyone getting good groups with this combination? If so what fps are you shooting? I'd just like an idea where to start so I don't shoot 1,000 slugs testing different speeds. I shoot FX 34 grain pellets with very tight groups (MOA or sub-MOA) at +/- 890 fps. I made no changes and shot a few of the 26 grain hybrids. Resulting speed was +/- 940 fps. Groups at 30 yards were not good - meaning scattered and +/- 1" groups (over 3 MOA). Like I said - just looking for a place to start testing.

Seems like anything under 100 yards everyone says the slugs are no better than the pellets. I will be interested to see how they work for you, I only shoot 50 yards BR and I am always chasing that one whole group.

Was planning to shoot them at 100 yards but might not keep them. And yes, pellets are much more accurate at 50 yards in my experience so far.

I tried them in my .22 RAW ..it wasn't terrible
My Raw has a cut-rifle barrel that is not choked ..not really a picky barrel
Yes there were flyers in the mix, but did manage to get a few sub MOA at 100
I believe i had them at around 930-940 fps
I did not do any sorting, so some of the flyers might have been been prevented..but didn't do a deep dive into them
Would not recommend for competition until the flyers can be sorted out
I can give them another look if you'd like...you have helped me

Thanks Mike, I'll let you know. Mine is a Rapidair Worx - Lothar-Walther polygon, unchoked 1:17.7 twist barrel. I DID hear back from UA and they recommended a starting point of 960. I'll test it and let you know how that goes.

I have tried about every slug made in my RAW .22 and .25 HM1000X rifles. Both shoot consistent groups with pellets deadly and consistent accuracy. I never could find a slug that either of them would shoot that would match the pellet performance. And I spent a lot of money and time trying. Went back to pellets and never looked back. BTW - this included hybrids.

Thanks - I'm realizing the same thing. It's pellets only for me with the HM1000X. As a matter of fact Rapid Air does not recommend slugs for the HM1000X.

You can pop those little suckers out at 1040 and they'll play well out to 125(my max range on my permission). My Maverick Sniper .25 is tuned for 33.9gr 940fps so the 26 come out faster and are fine. FX hybrids are made by RMR out of Idaho, you can get them in bulk somewhat cheaper. My ONLY complaint is that they need to be cleaned and lubed.

I have been shooting the Knockouts in the 217 size quite accurately. I have a 1" popper that isn't to much of a challenge to smack at 100 yards, pop cans are quite easy as well.

Working on installing a new regulator and tuning with the larger plenum to see what the rifle can do.

Mike, I have had my HM1000x .22 since 2019 and it took quite sometime before I found a slug (s) that it would shoot as accurately as pellets, each barrel is slightly different. RTI sells the same LW non choked poly barrel with 1:17 twist as slug barrels. Diameter in tandem with speed = spin stability is key, don't give up too soon! Once you find the right diameter slug (you can tell right away), it's just a matter of slight adjustments in tuning. Mine only shoots NSA .2175 diameter slugs accurately @ 920-950fps and up, not .217 or .2165 or .218. A clean barrel also helps slug accuracy that I have found and I had my barrel professionally polished. Have fun trying!

On my tune, I also shoot the NSA 20.2gr @ 930fps-ish but with the stock LW non choked poly very accurately 👍. Those FX liners can be special for slugs!
