Would it even be cost efficient given the cost of a Lother Walther barrel. .20 vs .22 on c02 what could we expect?

If I remember correctly, larger bores are more efficient with CO2. I believe the gas expands better. If you like at old velocity data on Crosman .177 vs. 22 for the same model, the .22 would be higher.
I do know MAC1 will build a .20 LD pistol, so the difference may be negligible

Do it. I had Tim at Mac-1 buy and machine a 20 caliber LW barrel for one of my QB-77s back in the early nineties. It was the most accurate pellet rifle I ever owned. 0.002" groups at ten yards all day long at 650-fps. Doing dumb things like detonating shotshells and .22 cartidges at twenty yards became really easy. Shooting yellow-jackets at twenty yards is a hoot, too.

Love the .20, I wish more manufacturers and pellet makers would get behind it. Out to 50 it has always been my favorite.

With more and more Co2 plants shutting down (better stock up on your favorite beer, especially craft beer)

Had a Sheridan .20 CO2 pistol, E9, I think...probably from the 1980's. well built and accurate as heck, but LOUD! Sounded like a 22 lr going off.
