Or you can send it to me and I’ll fix it, lol. It’ll be as good as new if not better, like how mine turned out.
it’s been a couple of years since I wrote all of that, and I just went thru the thread post by post, word for word. Not saying this to pat myself on the back as I did have awesome big time help along the way with Mr Jimmy King, but I feel l did a superior job in describing the how to’s with one goal in mind- to assist other lightning owners.
Having spent close to 20 years as an apprenticeship trades instructor for the sheet metal union, part of my job duties was creating tests and fabrication instructions. I took my time “splainin’” everything and tried to cover all my steps in detail. So I truly believe if you do as I did, you too will have your lightning back up and running. Do not take short cuts. Instead of shortcuts, i spent the time with a pre test or pre task of duties for this compressor before tearing it down to make sure it’s not just a stuck check valve or overly saturated filtration system.
if you took the time to read everything word for word, and don’t speed read/skim, you’ll find that it’s actually a level 5 out of 10 on skill set level in rebuilding that lightning.
If and then after reading all of that, you still have questions, I’ll be more than happy to assist.
When you do have it running excellent again, consider upgrading the wire sizes(all wires) another gage up in thickness, and get rid of the crimp on terminals and instead use terminals that you solder onto the wires. I took this another step further and soldered the actual connections to the switches, which had 4” tails on them that I could wire nut onto the harnesses. So if your switches ever caught on fire from a short(it’s not if it will, it’s when), the switches with their 4” pigtails can be hucked and you just make another soldered switch set up and wire nut it back onto the harness.
I can almost guarantee though, if you solder your connections onto the switches your switches will not short out. What catches them on fire is loose slip on spade connections that vibrate when the compressor is running, and it’s arc’ing with the vibration.
The exact same switches on the lightning can be purchased thru amazon, in a 10 pack.
good luck
