Anyone know the rules on Covicted felons being able to own an airgun in Florida?

https://myfwc.com/hunting/regulations/felony/

Convicted felons, as well as any hunter, may use a bow, crossbow or airguns during hunting seasons where allowed.

Hunters who are on probation, should consult with their probation officer before hunting.

Just noticed the thread starter said "own," not hunt. You might want to do some more investigating at your local courthouse or with a lawyer.

But based on that FWC literature and the fact that you can walk into your local Walmart and buy any airgun they sell without any kind of background check (though they do check to see if you're at least 18 years of age), you would think there isn't any restrictions on them in the state. But who knows...

I recommend you ask a lawyer in florida. DO NOT trust the net for an accurate answer on this subject. Not all, but my guess is a good percentage of airgunners are felons. Good luck.

WTF? Why on earth would you make such a claim?

It's called psychological projection.

Thank you sir, I just learned something new and interesting!

Airguns are not "FireArms"

There is no State exemptions in the US regarding air-powered devices.

Some States do address parole/probation limitations on knives.

You wont find one for air rifles/pistols.

The disinfo clowns need to zip it for sure.

Google expertice failed them again.

Follow State hunting regulations regarding the taking of species.

FWIW you can kill a boat load of iguana statewide everyday.

We feed'em to the gators in the ditches

What he obviously meant to say is that a good percentage of us are aspiring felons. 😋

Jersey actually considers them firearms. So if you’re gonna sell one to a guy in jersey you would have to send it to his local FFL dealer.

“In New Jersey, a BB gun, pellet gun or airgun is defined as a “firearm” that falls under N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5. The result is that it is illegal to possess a handgun, rifle or shotgun of this nature except in accordance with the licensing, use and transport laws for firearms. B-B and pellet pistols are subject to all of the above mentioned laws affecting air guns plus statewide carry restrictions. These regulations are especially strict as it relates to permits to carry handguns and pistols under N.J.S.A. 2C:58-4. Those who deviate from these regulations are exposed to a felony criminal offense in most instances. For example, carrying an air or spring handgun without a valid permit is a third degree crime exposing the accused to up to 5 years in prison and a fine of as much as $15,000.”

My pleasure. 30+ years in healthcare exposes one to interesting concepts.

There's a lot of legal authority available online, pretty much anything available to a lawyer is available to the general public. Many state and county offices will answer questions without taking all your information. See what the statutes say

As far as where all the felons live- I ascribe to the Vanilla Ice school of criminal justice that when you hear a dope melody anything less than the best is a felony.

As a side note felons are not able to own archery equipment in Colorado, a firearm is classified as a weapon that propels a projectile from the use of an explosion, with that said, because firearms and airguns propel projectiles differently ( powder vs. air ) does not mean every state or local jurisdiction classifies them differently and airguns are prohibited to felons in some areas.
