I hoping to find a place close to home where I can go squirrel hunting this coming season or just s place to shoot. I’m a subdivision and I hate having to shoot out my window to keep for upsetting my neighbors.
I’m in south Alabama and I have a large wildlife management area near me, that were I go squirrel hunting. Any WMAs close to you? I find that early season (sept. Oct.) are very good in my local WMA...less deer hunters during that time.
Check out Bodcau wildlife management area. It's pretty close to you. I used to hunt there as a kid before they made it a management area. Huge bottom land timber, take a gps, it's easy to get lost in there.
Yup, I have several WMA lands however they are about 35 to 50 minutes away and my hunting lease is an hour and fifteen minutes away so I was hoping to find a place within 20 minutes away So I can go after work. We have an early spring squirrel season here that ended yesterday and because I work pretty much 7 days a week I really don’t have time to make those long drives after work. Therefore, I never got to go.
Same type of WMA I hunt here in AL. Mobile/Tensaw Delta. Acquiring targets is no problem! Abundant squirrel population and I rarely see more than two others hunting them. During Deer season another story. During Deer season I usually stay seated and still average 5 or 6 squirrels.
