If I were going to do it, I'd attach the handle to a cam follower and make a lobe that gave some dwell time at the top and bottom of the stroke. My FX handpump recommended pausing there - of course that may be an efficiency thing that wouldn't matter so much if it were automated.

Way shorter pump and faster revs with a 200bar~3000psi max. It wore out fast and they discontinued a bad/flawed design.





If you rebuild the pump(s) often replacing O-rings i see no problem using this type of pump to charge tanks. But you still need proper humidity filters and what not.

I built one similar using a hill pump and a pneumatic air cylinder it worked great but was to slow so i bought a shoe box but i still have it though
