Anyone ever used one of these?

Old BSA air rifle scope. Just wanted something cheap to throw on my hw50s to use for now until I have more spare cash for a better scope. Nothing fancy 2-7x32 I believe no mil dot but initial sight in it seems ok certainly usable for now. Anyone used one of these

Better rings and mount would improve it, maybe. Still worth a try.

I removed those and am using a set of UTG 1" high mounts

Mine broke on same rifle,no more BSA for me...same with nikko sterling...I think a good one piece mount will help keep your scope alive ....longer.

It only needs to hold up for a little while until i can scrape together some cash. Any recommendations for a scope for the hw50

The ideal scope for your rifle would be a Leupold 3-9EFR. I am guessing that is not in the budget thought, so one of the compact UTG's would do.

Never been one to spend more on a scope than the gun. I'd be looking in the $90-150 range

I had a BSA 4X32 air rifle scope for years. It had a rubberized coating which turned into goop and was just a mess. Cleaned it off with some Goo gone and Dawn dish soap.

Aside from that,it was a tough little scope. Reasonably clear,held zero and had a duplex reticle. The one in your pic should serve the job pretty well.

If it has that rubber-like coating it may turn messy.

I am likely one of those in the "minority" here when it comes to talking points of BSA optics.... I've had good luck with four Air Essential scopes I've had and used on various air rifles, including a pair on RWS magnums (350 - 460) with RWS LockDown mounts.

It already had but I cleaned most of it off. Just shot my first squirrel with it. Seems ok
