Anybody modify the factory FX Boss shroud?

I have an FX Boss in 30 cal. I just took the shroud off and it was pretty dirty. A pile of lead dust fell out when I took off the shroud. Anyway I am thinking of trying to find a shroud moderator or if possible modify the factory one. Doing some measuring it looks like I have about 3.5" between the end of the air stripper and the one screw in baffle. Anybody ever use that space for anything?

You could try to fabricate some kind of baffle, or something to support some felt insulation, but I doubt that you would hear much difference. Although it seems counterintuitive, I think it has been shown that the volume/length of the moderator is the most important feature. The only potential problem with adding an additional suppressor, it makes a long rifle very long.

I use a Donny FL Ronin on my Boss. Replaced the FX shroud end cap (bottom picture) with the Donny 1/2x20 adapter.
Just as elk0102 commented it would make for a very long rifle. It would be nice to get some more baffles to fill that dead space between the air stripper and the end of the shroud if that would make it more quiet.
