Anybody Else Notice?

I don't think the Dreamline and Crown both being highly adjustable was lost on anyone. In a lot of ways the Crown and Dreamline are very similar guns. You'll also note though that the Crown and Dreamline are within spitting distance of each other price-wise when you factor in the carbon bottle the Crown wears.

Thinking about this actually, it'd be the FX impact that has the larger price gap with the Dreamline Bullpup. The FX Wildcat too might take a bit of a hit as they're visually rather similar guns, run tubes, etc except the Dreamline has a lot more adjustability. *shrug*

Really though I think what it comes down to is that, if you buy an FX, you can expect that in fairly short order there will be some new hotness which is "better" if you're into that kind of thing. If some people are selling their old guns to try and get the flavor of the week let them. My opinion is that you ought buy a gun which is just flat out great. If it is great now, even if there is something cooler tomorrow, it'll still be great.

I have noticed this too and was wondering the same thing. I have a FX Wildcat gen 1 in walnut. It is the only FX i have ever held but it is super smooth cocking dead on accurate very easy and comfortable to hold. I will probably never get rid of it. It’s that good. I would love to have an Impact but they have more places to leak than a submarine. The more goodies you have the more problems you can have. MM

One thing I believe plays a part is all the adjustability. Some people jump in thinking they will love all the tinkering they can do. But, in the end, not everyone ends up happy with all the tinkering. It becomes a chore, and a frustrating one at that. There is absolutely nothing wrong with simply wanting a gun that shoots good out of the box, and sometimes it takes an encounter with a Crown, or Impact, to realize that a simpler gun is what you really want and can be happy with. So, it makes sense for somebody like that to sell an otherwise expensive paperweight and get something they will be happy with. I thoroughly enjoy my Crown, and it is teaching me so much about air efficiency and ballistics. But, it is also a lot of work, work that I am currently happy to do. When I don't want to work, there is always my Streamline, Bullboss, or Wildcat. Yep, my Bullboss is still as much fun as my more expensive airguns. But, that's just me. To each their own.

I agree with a lot of that. I like simplicity & the older I get that is all I can really handle. LOL...

I notice it. I'd say the dreamline rivals the rest of their lineup at nearly half the cost for only half the shot count lost, where with low calibers that should be a fairly non-issue...I'd rather spend 1k for a tubed air gun that shoots lights out than 2k~ for a bottled version that does the same...just my 2c

Exactly. Well, I would pay more not to have that ugly bottle on the rifle. They don't sling well either. Actually for my hunting rifles I could use about half of the tube that most have on them. Funny I when I first got into this PCP thing, I keep getting more & bigger air reservoirs. Then after a few years I started going the other way. Now since I don't really shoot a lot & mostly just squirrel hunt, I would be satisfied with 180 cc.

QFT. Seems like it'd be easy to get a great running rifle to suddenly become not so accurate in short order.

FX does seem to have a steady flow of "updated versions", which is a good thing IMO. I just bought an Impact X in .22 and now I've read there is a new A.M.P. regulator in the wings. My first reaction was "mine's already outdated" but as someone said "if you start with something you believe is a great gun it should stay that way even if something cooler comes along".

As far as the Impact and similar guns being too adjustable, if you're happy, you don't need to adjust them. Out of the box 18.13 JSB's are going 860 fps (30 foot pounds energy), and the 15.89's are going 890 on MAX. At power "2" it's 740 and 780 fps respectively. My regulator is at 110 BAR. From a fill of 240 BAR down to 135 BAR I'm getting 8 mags (144 shots) at MAX, and 11 mags (198 shots) at power "2". Accuracy is great.

The gun has a fixed shroud and the FX moderator. It is very quiet. My first impression was that I could see where someone would want to crank up the settings. It just doesn't sound like a 30 FPE rifle. You won't see this one up for sale.

100%

I have the Impact X on 22 25 30, I spend a LOT of pellets and time tinkering, but once you get it, is all good. Now, I change barrel, adjust reg pressure, hst, and I am set.. 5 minutes max for each cal...shot 5 pellets max over the chrony and I am done! But that is now, before that I had to spend a lot of time searching for the right set for the impact in different cals. Accuracy? In the last Bench Rest comp, I shoot 75yards with 0.30 and I change it later on the run to 0.25 for 50yards (I did test a lot on the range that change) and you know what? I Won that competition on 50m (2 day comp so luck was only 50% jaja)

And now the knowledge I have on the impact...no price on that...I have to say it tho..at 1 point it cross my mind...WHY DID I BUY THE IMPACT WITH 3 DIFFERENT CALS! ... but now...9 month or so later... I am quite happy, that is what make me believe that this interchangeables guns are not for everyone like you say.

Forgot to mention, the communication with FX and support (Ernest) are amazing...Ernest help me a lot to understand all. Hope that never change!
