So I've been noticing something and curious if you guys have seen this also ? After changing over to a different pellet while shooting I've noticed it sometimes ( not always ) takes a few shots for the different pellets to " settle in " before they shoot their best . Not sure if it's seasoning as I've heard rimfire shooters speaking of or what ..This Target is a good example . I started at top left and snaked my way to the bottom after changing back to the original pellets I zeroed up with earlier in the day . The first 10-15 shots seem to loose group until it gets back right .

PS this group is 25 meters with 8.4 AA pellets . And its about as well as i can shoot with my FWB 300.

I have not noticed it Joe, but then again haven't been looking for it. If it actually does take a few pellets for the gun to settle in That puts a whole different spin on when I set down after changing something, cleaning or checking a new gun to find out what pellet it likes. Normally will set up with 6 to 8 different pellets and shoot 5 shot groups and then evaluate to see which is best. Taking this into account I should burn 4-5 rounds of each new pellet before shooting the group.

Yeah honestly I didn't notice it AS much with my PCP rifles . But my most accurate PCP shot so well i hated changing anything...But I tried some H&N pellets just for the hell of it and they shot just OK.
But after trying them I remember being frustrated that it took a while for my gun to settle back down .
I noticed this same thing with my FWB Mini from time to time.

JoeWayneRheaPS my buddy Marksman( David ) has said same thing about his Daystates. He is very cool about letting someone shoot his gun but Only with HIS pellets . I'm getting the same way .

HaHa! So true. Ive noticed it definitely. I only shoot the 18.13 jsb thru my gun for this very reason. I havent cleaned my wolverine barrell in probably 2000 rounds and its still accurate. If I shot 10 to 20 of h&n it would take like 40 to 50 shots to be back to normal. I guess I am picky . But....this is definitely the case with my experience and my guns. Ive noticed it with powder burners too and especially with .22LR.

I find H&N hunter extremes to be accurate in 25 and terrible in every 22 I own. I find that the 25 H&N make less noise and do more damage when hunting with Cricket. They are also cheaper than JSBs so they are my current favorate.

I usually have to spend time changing my settings to make new pellets work well. The main thing is that some pellet designs need to fly faster or slower than JSBs to be accurate. I up the power a little when switching from JSBs to H&N. I couldn't tell you how it differs in a springer.

This could explain why I was always rezeroing my scope, I would get my hands on some new pellets, try them out never adjusting my scope. Then when I went back to jsbs it would be slightly off, so I would then rezero only to shoot a few clips and have to adjust again. I thaught it was my scope but now that I have only shot same pellets I haven't had to do a thing and it is spot on! Daystate Air Ranger.25. ( thanks for bring this up)

Manic miner . If that is directed at me , then it's actually an Above average AirGun . And I'm too old to chase my tail.
If directed at the other guys that commented here then you have little to contribute here , I've seen these guys either shoot in person . Or seen many of their groups online. They are very good shots . The thread was started to ask THEM their thoughts .

Joe, albeit not single shots like you posted above, I did have a similar experience with shooting 10-pellet groups of the same pellets. I shot about 6 groups of 10 of the same pellet (sorted/sized), at same distance (100 yards), at same speed, same cant, same scope mag: and the overall group sizes varied in a pattern...not randomly...from larger to smaller and back to larger again. I figured at that time that I was doing something ever slightly different, maybe the rifle hold slipped or changed a bit. Having said that...at 25 yards such subtle hold-changes may not matter that much and I gather you were shooting consistently shot to shot.

Thank for all the input guys !! I remember when I shot rimfire guys talked about it more . And wasn't sure if it was just a fluke or what ? But I've noticed it more lately . Maybe my new gun just takes more time to settle in . I FINALLY unassed the money for some of those JSB 8.4 pellets that are supposed to be so precise . A big part of me is hoping they aren't any better than regular pellets :)
I have been having Really good luck with all the AirArms pellets lately so we will see.
