Any update on the hammer 50cal.?

There just doesn't seem to be a good answer to that question I'm afraid. If my recollection is correct, the Hammer was supposed to come out the "summer after SHOT" for three years now. Umarex isn't exactly broadcasting release dates, in part because they've been wrong so many times at this point. So I'm afraid the best answer I have for you is no answer.

What I can say though is, given the level of hype Umarex tries to build up around its products, I'd bet that when they're ACTUALLY ready to deliver the associated marketing campaign will be...... lets just politely call it "difficult to overlook."

The amount of air that thing requires and the ballistic coefficient... considering shot count..... this would be one case where centerfire makes more sense than air gun.... 100 times over... the practicality of refilling this in the field is non-existent... as a guy who recently go into this hobby to shoot things quiet and eliminate pest and predators... there is a TON TO LOVE about Airguns.... sometimes there is a better tool in the shed.... yes this will kill anything you hunt with it... but yardage and shot count matter..... if I’m hunting a doe to fill the freezer I’ll use this or the claw or even a 45.... but for big bucks or anything that size.... not using this.... despite the hype videos on managed ranches...

It's a preference issue, same as hunting archery.

As to the number of shots and deer hunting I've never really been in a situation where needing more than three shots has been the case. My county is a 4 bag limit 2 buck 2 anterless
