Any Tips For a New .22 Gauntlet Owner ?

I just picked up a new Umarex Gauntlet in .22 and I'm looking for tips and tricks such as how to make it better and what pellet shoots best in them. I've been watching Hajimoto's videos and ordered one of his tuning kits. I printed my own baffles and air stripper. I want to get this thing functioning smoothly and shooting well before giving it to one of my sons.

With the assumption that you are comfortable with the task, the 1st and one of the most beneficial procedures is to clean up and adjust the stock trigger. (After a Thorough barrel cleaning,of course.) De-gassing the rifle should be done prior to any disassembling.

I chose to clean up the bolt assembly as well as the hammer, hammer spring..ect.

After that you will need a chronograph to determine what type of velocities you are getting. Watching Hajimoto's videos will give you pretty much any info you could need...he is thorough and on point. Hell, after viewing them,Even I could tackle the job!

My .177 Gauntlet has some Haji-Bits,a larger bottle (380cc ),adjustable hammer pre-load device and a slightly hopped up regulator.

For what it is,I absolutely LOVE my Gauntlet! It gets over 120 shots per fill at 21-ish ft lbs and is dead-nuts accurate.

I'm very familiar with gunsmithing and metalwork. What's your bottle made of? I was thinking about a carbon fiber bottle for mine. Do you know the thread size?

It's an aluminium bottle and the thread size is identical to the stock Ninja bottle. The thing is,most bottles larger than this one have a larger diameter...which makes it nearly impossible to use the bottle shroud portion of the Gauntlet stock. That said, You can go on Youtube and search Southern Gunner. He has installed a Much larger bottle on his new .25 Gauntlet. (He has turned it into a Hammer. An Accurate Hammer!) It has a bipod/pic rail he configured and personally, I think it looks pretty good. But to each their own.

I was looking on Amazon and found a cf bottle that was either 480 or 500cc. I guess it all depends if your willing to sacrifice the bottle shroud.

I bought my Gauntlet knowing that I was going to be tinkering with it (which I enjoy.) and have really enjoyed it!

On my .22,I added the Hadji tune kit, adjusted trigger, added 23 cu.in. bottle & raised my reg. to 1400 psi. Also polished hammer. My .25 , put reg. up to 2000 psi., added 23 cu.in. bottle & waiting on tune kit( Travis saying after the Shot Show- end of Jan.

How much did raising the reg pressure to 1400psi change velocity and with which pellet? I'll probably go with a .3L carbon fiber bottle (55mm dia.) so I'll be changing the regulator to M18x1.5

I don't really need a lot of power so I'm going for shot count and accuracy.

With the tune kit & reg. change , I was able to push Jsb 15 gr.@ 930 but adjusted down to 880 fps(ideal speed for this pellet. My initial reg. was only putting out ~ 1100 psi. & pushing same pellet @ 830fps.-tune kit makes it all better. Trying to upload target pic @ 60 yds. but getting error 500 WTF! Never had this issue-
