Any pest or wildlife control outfits looking to hire shooters from Northern Cali

I would come out of retirement to work for a pest or wildlife control business in Northern California.

Is there any such business? I might even offer to do it for the cost of my expenses or a minimal fee.

No pest control company would ever hire a "shooter". You would not believe the regulations under which they operate. The liability risk would be significant. Look for a farmer that has a problem, but don't accept payment, and don't call it a business.

Where in Northern California? I'm in shasta and siskiyou county. Often I do it for trade to hunt their land later. I stay busy with ground squirrels but once the grass or alfalfa grows tall its hard to get them.

Often people don't like to pay cause they have fun doing it themselves or find other means of getting the job done. Not to say some folks won't pay.....but yes certainly a liability.

Yup, as a professional tuner I work with some professional "Pesters" having had such a conversation being of personal interest in doing part time.

Liability constraints of doing so made it a Big NO !!!

We have 3 nut orchards to "plink" at and and the farmer's are happy. No $ ever even mentioned, just happy to have a place to enjoy our hobby. Now just itching for some better (dry) weather.

There is a business of pesting with an airgun, but those in the business aren't going to say anything. The company I work for wouldn't discuss any employees shooting their problem pigeons. Later they hired an outfit out of New York with the proper worded contract and insurance. The price is $15 per bird shot.

In CA we are luck to have a place to shoot. I pay good money to shoot at the range.

Yes, I agree. I belong to the Diablo Rod and Gun Club in Concord, CA. I shoot almost every Wed 9-12

I toyed around with the idea of making business cards and offering to eliminate pests for no cost but then later possibly making some of my money back by starting a YouTube channel. The iguana hunter is a great example of what that might look like. I have had very little success on my own asking for permissions here in Northern Cali. I don't live too close to the orchards and stuff like that. 45 mins is where the closest one is. I recently met a guy at church that has a horse ranch 20 mins away. Trying to make friends so I can ask..... Politely. You basically win the lottery when you get a permission here.

The wildlife control officers I know make most of their money setting traps and crawling through tight spaces and doing very nasty work.

While there's some AG usage, most of that is just close range dispatch of pests that are in traps.

Far cry from walking around with a AG looking for a shot to take like what's shown on YT.

We are a 6 gun team and often travel 2hrs to clean out pigeons of machine shops and grain handling mills

We have never asked for payment,never made videos or said much in public about it.

We have more work than we can handle every weekend simply by word of the customer's mouth.
