Any motorcyclists?

Here's a question. If you ride and are also into airguns... have you figured out how to carry your rifle while you ride?

I'm thinking transportation to your range...descreetly? Or out to the country or ranch? Maybe?

Tell us if you've figured out how one can accomplish this task without attracting unwanted attention .

This question is from an airgunner who also loves riding his Harley... everywhere I go in the spring, summer, and fall.

You want to transport an airgun on a Harley Davidson motorcycle without attracting unwanted attention? Surely you jest!

Don't get me wrong. I'm an avid airgunner. And if I was young again and had the hootch, I'd own a Harley too. But I don't have to tell you about the image that is conjured in many people's brains every time they see a Harley. And in most places in this slave-ship U.S.A., airguns are regarded as "FIREARMS" according to the law. When people see a Harley, they see an OUTLAW. And when they see a FIREARM on a Harley, "CALL THE POLICE....THERE'S A TERRORIST MASS MURDERER ON THE LOOSE".

I'm not saying it's right, but, seems to me that the quickest way to attract unlimited amounts of unwanted attention is to transport an airgun on a Harley. Unfair and prejudiced as it is, it's reality.

I've used guitar cases like suggested above, but every time I've done that at least one person comments. "I don't believe you have a guitar in that case" depending on the gun can't you put it in a back pack? I've been pretty successful in taking springers out of the action and getting them to fit in two pieces in a 20-30 Ltr bag. In that same bag I've put an AR, Mossberg 500 w/ 20" barrel, and a folding stock AK 47. I haven't tried my MRod, but looks like it would fit in two pieces. My PRod fits in my 15Ltr bag just fine. If your in AZ just throw it over your shoulder. Carry a 1911 if someone trys to take it from you. You have the right to defend yourself and belongings

What gun(s) are you trying to transport?

This answer is from an airgunner (Field Target) who also loves riding his Harley (Road King) ......everywhere I go in the spring, summer, and fall (and winter for me.... Florida :)

I have taken my HW97K springer to shoot at a match using a guitar case as already stated but the case I used was a roadie with back pack type straps. I'm not a musician but I bought the bag to carry my rifles. I strapped it over the passenger seat with the neck towards and hanging over the rear of the bike. Worked great but I wouldn't trust that method with any of my larger PCP's.

I bought a Crosman 1720T with the plastic stock last summer. I carry it, disassembled, in a large pistol bag (BassPro). I have mounted a FT scope on it and plan on carrying my Benjamin 90ci buddy bottle in the bike bag and the pistol case in another. I haven't tried it yet but it looks to be doable.

You simply can't go wrong mixing hobbies/loves that blend together so well.

That TX 200 would fit in a medium backpack if you took the action out of the stock. I have a Cirque 30 backpack that would fit it easy. A motorcyclist with a backpack is a common thing. Oh you could take the action out of the stock and put it at the bottom of a sleeping bag, roll it up strap it to the sissy bar, I see dudes like at all the time. Actually I never thought about that til now. You may want to look around for some foam rubber like from a gun case to pad the inside of the soft case so it's not moving all over on you. I did that with my duck gun in a soft guitar case, I just stuffed a couple t shirts in their. If in the right/wrong position you can see the shape of a gun in an ill fiting soft case, may draw more attention then if it was in plain sight. Biker with a stolen gun in a guitar case?

I do not need roads, Back years before the oil boom I could run up on P. Dog towns that had never been hunted, I carried a blanket a jug of ice tea and a single action six Ruger,

If i could do it now with my Veteran 22 it would be way cool, But everything is closed down as tight as a drum due to the oil boom. Sucks big time.

KLR 650 or in the 80s was a SP 600,

This thread just brought back some fun memories..
Back in the late 90s, I rode a LOT.. Mostly dual-sport bikes, as I enjoy cruising around on back roads and in state-land..
I had a few bikes, but, when it came to cruising around with guns, my go-to was a Yamaha TW [Trail Way 200]

They look like this:

And they can be modded like this:

Low slung wide 200mm rear tire [before 'fat-tires' were cool]
and the things go anywhere and everywhere..

Mine was set up with custom handlebar mounts..
I also had a modified [small] cargo rack on the back

I had a few .22LRs, and a few 9mm carbines,
and they'd fit awesome on there..
I just mounted the rifles sideways on the handlebar mounts..

Then I had an ammo-can, etc. on the rear cargo rack..

Back then, I could care less about staying under the radar,
so everything was exposed.. Not only that, but,
sometimes, I'd just sling a rifle to my back, and head out..

I must have put thousands of miles on that scoot just cruising trails,
and finding the most killer spots to shoot at.. Those were the days.

🙂👍
