these are couple pics of 40mm diameter models. one is a 4+1 and the other is a 5+1 , they are stackable , well machined and effective. based on decibel meter , the 5+1 set up is between a donnyfl ronin and an emperor in effectiveness. the 4+1 is similar to huggett standard and ramus tech 0 DB.

If you like it modular why not get an A-tec for about half the price of the Huma, from which Huma stole the design https://www.a-tec.no/silencers/rimfire/a-tec-cmm-6-rimfire

I am thinking about on of these: https://www.wolfairguns.com/product_info.php?cPath=37&products_id=81&osCsid=e496ff4772978a572e359c87fbc0b7ee

If that is too long and too thick; get a Weihrauch; pretty much the industry standard.

If your gun is above 40 Ftlbs get a SAK https://www.ouluntyostokeskus.com . Or one of its Alibaba 'special car filter' clones. These things are very sturdy and moderate very well.

Huma used an effective design in existence, and improved upon it. Lighter, more effective for airgun use.... Also, their customer support has been absolutely second to none. That's the number one reason I love them. But the level of effectiveness, care in machining, efficiency, and overall end product quality sweetens the deal.

@Blackthunder Have you used a huma mod on any of your guns?

No, I do not own any Huma products. But I have used the 30mm version.

I am sure they moderate well, after all the 40mm version is large in volume and the hair curler / felt innards are a proven design; lots of moderators use this. But it sure is not cheap for what you are getting.

I also do not really get the modular design, but maybe for some people it is the best thing ever. How well will these sections hold op with time? Why not go for one piece?

Because one likes experimenting? For the price of a long 40mm Huma +2 extra pieces you can 'experiment' with a 40 mm Wolf, a SAK + Weihrauch.

You want short and super strong; I would hands down get a SAK (which I do own). You want large volume (presumable for a powerful PCP), I personally would not get something with felt, but an all metal design. You have medium power gun, perhaps get a Hogan or a Weihrauch (I own several of both)

I am not saying that one should not get a Huma, they just do not appeal to me.

I am also in the market for something large volume, but I think that I will go for the Wolf.

Huma 'borrowed' this design from A-tec, who sells this as rim fire moderator. I used to shoot moderated rim fire guns and let me tell you, rim fire moderators get very, very dirty. A design that has no loose internal baffles is highly desirable for rim fire as it makes for easy cleaning. I used to own an Ase Utra rim fire moderator, that I got rid of as the tiny little baffles just got cemented in there. The Sak ( originally a rim fire, that is also sold for air)consists of only 3 parts and is IMO a better design than this cup in cup design.

Airgun moderators have little to no need for cleaning, so to me this does not make that much sense on an airgun. But then again, each to their own.

Absolutely fair. There are lot sod great mods available.... Shoot, you cna make your own that would be more effective.

But the material they used is more than adequately strong. And the machining is done with precision. Each module has an oring, so it stays put as well, without having to torque down on it...

The extremely light weight, and ability to shorten, or play with configurations, coupled with high level of effectiveness makes it worth it to me. The price is on par or less than a donny mod..... Results are on par, if not slightly better.

I use one on a target pistol I have, and I actually used the configurable length to balance the gun out.

I also have one for a sortie, and the design allowed me alot of free room to easily experiment and get the gun to actually work with a moderator.
