What are your thoughts about this gun. I posted a WTT my HW77 for a 57 but I changed my mind. I got a 12 ft lb Vortec kit that I will have installed in the HW77 instead.
Any HW57 owners?

I have one in .177 and love it. I installed an HW50S Vortek kit and seal in mine and the thing shoots very well. The loading mechanism takes a bit of getting used to but once you do its a breeze. Aside from that it is basically what you would expect it to be. A well balanced, lightweight underlever, that handles like a dream. I've debated grabbing a second in .22

I have one in .177 and have had accuracy issues related to the pellet tappet. Shooting groups shows a flyer every third or fourth shot low and to the left. A real shame, she sits on my wall now looking pretty.

Out of curiosity, how old is yours? Mine will go half inch with 10 shots using JSB 8.44 at 30yds pretty much all day. It isn't stellar fixed barrel HW accuracy but it is pretty decent.

Mine is about six month old. I have tried every pellet in .177 with low left flyers results. The only bad springer I have.

I was getting some flyers as well until I started loading the gun parallel to the ground or even slightly pointing downward. With the barrel pointing at an upward angle the pellets would occasionally drop back out a hair and get their skirts a little squished when pushing the breech down.
Not sure if that is your issue or not, but that is what solved my problem with it. I hope you can get it resolved because it will probably be a favorite of yours if you can get it shooting straight. I know mine is for me.
Edit: Also, the 4.53 JSB Exacts perform quite a bit better in my 57 than the 4.52s do

I bought one from Krale a few years ago in .177cal. I LOVED the feel and balance of the gun. Unfortunately, it would throw too many fliers. When the pellets made the jump from the taploader to the barrel, it would create inconsistent rifling. (I shot pellets into a bucket of water - this is how I found this out.)
I wish they would make an HW97 in this size, at about 10fpe. It would be such a joy to shoot!

I still want one. Krale doesn't list them anymore. I think Baker sells them for $500, but I am not paying that much for one. If I see a decent deal on a used one I might grab it.

The flyers are between two to six inches, low and to the left. I tried pointing the rifle down while loading and pushing evenly on both side of the top of the tappet. I have tried a few different head sizes and even the tin GTO pellets. The rifle needs the breech off of the HW77 / HW97 and it would be perfect. I ended up leaving it on my wall and purchased the HW50 in .22 for a replacement. Quite the shame.

maxtrouble, flyers like that are definitely unacceptable. I agree it's a real shame because it seems like a really nice rifle. Good choice on getting the HW50.

Wow that is definitely unfortunate man. I did some experimenting today and found out some things that I thought were interesting...
I happen to have a brand new spare breech that I had picked up awhile ago just in case and decided to use it today. Well.... my groups opened up quite a bit and I ran into some other problems. For starters, my POI shifted about 6 inches to the right. Pretty consistently with a 5 shot groups at 30yds, I would have 2 seperate very distinct groups. 3 shots would be in one clear cut group while two more shots would be a few inches to the left and touching. Occasionally one would go god knows where.
Swapped back to the breech that came with the gun and just like that, my zero was perfect and pellets were all in one neat group.
Long story short, I think I was very fortunate and just so happened to get a breach that was properly aligned with my leade.
It may be worth a call into one of Weihrauch service centers and see about getting replacement breeches.

I got a .177 about a month ago, and like it so well, compact, relatively lightweight, that I ordered another from the same seller. He had the two and stated that they were tuned by Jan Kranner, All I can say is that cocking is very smooth, no spring twang, The .177 exceeded my accuracy expectations, which at the moment are not the highest. I injured my left hand so have a hard time holding it. I did find the pop up breech very tight and difficult to press down after loading and cocking, but dab of moly paste mixed with a drop of silicone oil took care of that problem. I put an Anschutz rear diopter sight on the .177 and at 20 yards was getting ragged dime size groups. I have another of the same model sight on order for the .22 and am awaiting it before shooting for any kind of accuracy. I had thought about a compact scope but am liking the diopter sight so well, and the way the stock fits, it aligns to my eye very well, and honestly is more fun than a scope.

I'd buy one if it had this. RB2. Otherwise FGI. I have other guns with popup and I can't stand them. Too fumbly.

That looks interesting, how does it work. I see how the pellet couldeasily be guided into the chamber. As far as the 57 pop up breech being "fumbly" I find it less so than my HW77 or TX 200

I have no trouble loading mine either and I have a pretty long UTG Swat on there. I feel like my smaller hands make that possible though. If I had big hands I could definitely see the need to switch to a smaller optic.

Where did you find a .22? I've heard they actually shoot a bit nicer than the 177s but haven't had any luck locating one that delivered to the US

Hull family guns in CT. They had two and I got both. When I was corresponding with Krale they said they could order one but it might take a rather long time.
