Any BSA tuners out there?

I have an ultra jsr 12 fpe model I'm thinking about opening up and wanted to see if anyone knows of a disassembly video for them or if the R10 or SE models are all the same guts.

This little guy gets 50 shots at 12 fpe and I'm thinking if I could get 20-30 shots in the 25 fpe range it would make a good mini slug gun.

@Motorhead, I know I read a post where you built up a jsr for someone and got in the 22 fpe range from simply removing the valve restrictor and opened the transfer port. Do you think my plan is possible? 20 shots around 25 fpe? Also, do you know if the jsr barrels like slugs? I've heard good things with some of the other models and I believe the 12 inch barrels are all the same.

Thanks!

I have an old ultra MMC 12ftlb rifle and one of the Goldstar SE same as the ultra with a fancy stock. Both in .22

The Goldstar out of the box I think was close to 30 ftlb but barely got two magazines at 20 shots. Gun seemed out of balance.

The JSR from the pictures has a shorter air tube. Looks closer to the MMC I have. I assume this is from not having the reg and plenum.

I ended up turning the Goldstar down to 12ftlb and at this level it stacks pellets and feels much more in balance. On both rifles I added the Huma shrouds.

I’m not saying don’t crank it up but me personally I wouldn’t. They are so nice to shoot at the UK levels they were really designed for.

Dougar tuned my goldstar se it’s got a huma reg and shroud and is pushing 10.34’s at about 870fps

I'm looking at this from a hunting aspect and want a flat trajectory with enough power for up to raccoon sized game. A 20 fpe slug should get that done out to 40 yards. I'm just not sure on how well these do with slugs, it stacks just about every pellet I own in 22 so there has to be good potential for slugs. Just figure 12 fpe is too low to even test slugs.

you know a 12 in. barrel on that gun is going to be a struggle to get power not to mention a very low shot count , if you like bsa they have some awsome deals on a r10 se in 22. plenty of power and good shot count , you will have a gun made for your task AOA ,

I have other guns that'll do the power I want and do shoot some slugs well. I'm just wanting this tiny gun to be a hot rod with slugs for mainly squirrels and rabbits, but would be nice to take coons and the like with it as well.

Motorhead got 22 fpe out of one by just removing the valve restrictor and opening the transfer port.
