Any Air Arms, Galahad owners out there ?

My Galahad is kinda long. I'd like to see how well the barrel shrouding baffles work without the silencer.

BUT, I can't seem to get the silencer off of the shroud. I let it sit in the hot (95°) sun most of the day, still no luck.

I don't want to damage either the shroud tube or the silencer, but separating the two would be a good thing.

Any good ideas out there ?

I was 'bummed' that my used Galahad came without a silencer. Before I got the gun I actually ordered a Q-Tec mini from a dealer in the U.K. (Donny from DonnyFL told me that their double-male adapter didn't work on the Galahad for some reason.)

Unfortunately the package from the U.K. has been sitting in Customs at LAX since 8/21. And now I'm reading that Customs is stopping and returning imported silencers, even for air guns. D'oh!

The good news however is that I have found my .177 Galahad to be very backyard friendly with only the shroud and no additional silencer.

So you are heading in the right direction as your Galahad will be both shorter and pretty backyard quiet with only a barrel shroud.

No luck.

E-mail from Bagnall (EU) says that they cannot send shroud / silencer parts out of the country separately. If that's true, that means that Air Arms cannot either, but I still have not heard from them.

TMH -

You sure that you don't want to make your Galahad...even quieter ?? Which gun do you have, the full length, or the carbine ?

Mine is the rifle not the carbine, with an overall length (without moderator) of about 31.5"

So... it is really only about a 4" difference between moderated shroud and plain shroud.

One thing you might think about: I'm a biologist by schooling, not an engineer or a machinist. So it always surprises me the things that a machine shop can do, and make look easy. If you have a local machine shop you could take your shroud to and ask their opinion...

Hmm, gotta work to come up with something. I like my Bullpups to be real...Bullpups. That equals, short, close combat weapons.

Like my Lelya, BP 17. Even my Uragan Compact is really nice lengthwise. Then they start to get long. I shortened the shroud on my Daystate Renegade. Just cut and weld. Still has all of the baffles, just slightly shortened to fit the new interior length..!

May look into the cut and weld idea on the Galahad. Leave the silencer in place. Should be plenty of room, diameter wise. Just the interior parts, can I do that right ?
