Getting an Anschutz Benchrest Start a 7lb gun and will be shooting 10 meter and 50 ft indoors at local range. I'm a little concerned about 50 ft range using a wadcutter type pellet thinking of a round head pellets. Any experience, or thoughts would be great

some experienced shooters have told me that it is not advisable to shoot with wadcutters beyond 20 yards, maybe domeds will work better for you

I shot a match on Saturday and this answered my question, yes wadcutters shoot good at 50 ft. I was shooting QYS 8.2 grn training pellets these are great pellets. I shot 10 meter class with a 622.0 score, the winning score was a 635.2 Heavy Varmint I came in 4th overall with Heavy/light/10 METER class's. We have another match this Wednesday and I'll try the QYS 8.48 domed pellets to see with ones shoot the best.

Well I shot another 50 ft match tonight and my gun didn't like the 8.48 QYS pellets so I shot the 8.2 QYS again tonight. I won 10 meter tonight with a score of 625.3. and came in 4th overall winning score was 636.9. The 8.2 wadcutters win.

Wadcutters at 50 ft should be no problem. You might try various weight pellets. I like RWS Meisterkugeln available in 7.0 and 8.2 gr as well as H&N Pistol match 7.65 gr. I've been shooting 25M outdoors with my FWB 300S. JSB 7.87 gr domes are best for that setup. I'm currently negotiating for an Anschutz 8001 and hope to do more BR shooting with that.

All my Feinwerkbau's including pistols shot 7 grain RWS Diablo Basics very well, the Anschutz doesn't shoot them. Figures they were cheap and I have a bunch.
