I have finally finished( for now) my paint project. This is a favorite rifle of mine. Built like a tank and I literally have shot a one hole group over a that shooting challenge page. I’m looking forward trying my luck at the 30 yard challenge. This rifle started life as the Black Hunter model. It’s rubberized black finish was absolutely perfect right up until it wasn’t. The grippy finish started wearing through and was just nasty to the touch. I searched for a replacement being wood, composite or aluminum without any luck. So……. I got to work sanding off the black rubber. What a tedious job. As you can see, this stock has lots of lines and character. Finally, a good, dry day arrived and I primed and painted. This was my first attempt at stock painting and while it’s has plenty of uh oh’s , I am pleased with the end result. Now, I can start enjoying it again.
