Another YH gauge bites the dust.

I think this is gauge number four for my Yong Heng compressors. I thought these gauges were garbage but, I have noticed, most times I replace a gauge that the high side check valve has been bad as well. So, I am starting to think that the two are related and I should start changing out my check valve o-ring every six to eight months or so and see if the gauge still dies or not. This one actually blew the rubber plug out of the gauge and cracked the glass when it gave up the ghost.

Also found a smallish leak in the dowty seal on the high pressure block. That is how I stumbled on the bad check valve. Took me about 15 minutes to replace the gauge, check valve o-ring and Dowty seal and was an easy thing to do. Charged my Ninja tank up to 4200psi for a check so everything is good again. Simple to werq on these things are.

Nothing wrong with not having a gauge on the compressor if you have one on the tank or gun. As much as I hate the Set Pressure gauges I feel more comfortable using the compressor with one as I have a habit of spacing out to some far off and distant land now and then and the compressor can turn itself off if this happens while I am filling a gun. Hopefully I am back before the burst disc brings me back to reality. ;^)

dont worry, the burst disc will bring you back to the here/now BOOM😲I needed my extra discs and clean undergarment 💩

Agree that it's a good extra safety layer and that is never a bad thing. But the Yong Heng still (after nearly 3 years of use) tops off my Great White in about 10-11 minutes. It's hard sometimes 😃 but I can still focus for that length of time.

Yes, I have not spaced turning the thing off either as yet. But I have brain damage from head trauma sustained in an assault near ten years back. Sometimes I loose time minutes, hours and even days, every now and then, so more safeguards are always good cuz I never know what I did in that time I lost. I'm always a bit concerned when I come back to reality wondering what went on.

Very sorry to hear that. It makes your prior comment completely understandable. And I as well have done some boneheaded things while refilling, such as leaving the vent valve open on the tank and wondering why it wasn't building pressure. As you note, the burst disc should save one from major issues but caution and redundant safety features surely can help. Best to you.

I've noticed that when the little oil/moisture filter gets soaked with water it has difficulty passing air and the YH can read way higher than the tank on the output side of the filter. Mine passed 400bar~6000psi on the compressor one day and permanently reads some 50bar~450psi to high. I got another gauge and the compressor is fine again.
