Went to the warehouse that I have permission to eliminate the groundhogs at tonight. I positioned myself on the end of the fence row to give me a good angle on the two sides they have holes on. One end is an open stall that used to house a horse which they no longer have, so there are straw bales that have become a tunnel system to these pest. They like to sit up on the bale to the right of my point of aim with rangefinder.
This guy didn't know what hit him, as he took a 33.95gr JSB to just behind the eye, and out the top of the head. I know the shot was placed really well, and that the death was instant, so I quickly went to retrieve it, which was a mistake. Had I waited a minute or two as I normally do, I would have been able to drop another one that was checking out the it's family members body. Unfortunately, waiting it out never provided a chance to eliminate it as well, so it will be there for next time I am there.
