One of the rifles we don't hear much about on these forums are the Air Arms rifles. While my vault holds many more expensive rifles, none are more solid and dependable than this old AA S410 in .22 caliber. It is the first PCP I purchased back years ago, and I believe it is among the first of the side lever AA S410s made. The only thing every done to this rifle was I sent it to Scott Schneider (Motorhead) a few years ago for all new seals and the installation of a HUMA regulator.
This is #2 in this year's annual maintenance check. I pulled the rifle out of the vault and first cleaned the barrel. It was holding air exactly where it should be on the gauge. Checked all of the stock and scope screws, giving a half turn on the primary stock screw.
Next, I double checked the zero, using my 18 yard indoor range, as I set all of my rifles to a close zero of 18 as a constant factor to let me come back to at any time day or night or in any weather.
Oddly enough, after testing about every .22 round made over the years, this rifle prefers the JSB Hades. The final test results can be seen below.
My guess is that it will be equally functional at next year's review.
