Well last nite I spent some time with my Crosman Nitro Venom Dusk 22. I installed a set of Hawke Low Weaver Scope Mounts, with a Hammers 3x9x32AO scope. Set a ply board out at 15 yards and drew about 20 1.5 inch circles on it. Dialed in the scope and spent the better part of the evening spinning my 1 inch spinner target. Manged to hit 27 out of 30. I was happy about that.
Well today I finished up with work early and decided to set my spinner target out, to 18 yards, shot the small spinner and hit no problem, then I began to miss over and over again......Hmmm thats odd, it was dialed in yesterday. I remembered I lubed the chamber less than 200 shots ago, but maybe it needed lubed again???
I dropped 2 drops of RWS Chamber Lube down the hole and sure enough the accuracy returned. I then decided to check the breech seal for leaks as it looked flattened out and shiny. I cut a piece of paper towel and shot it safely toward the hillside and sure enough it leaked bad. I removed it and looked to see if I had any O Rings that would fit it. Nope, its an oddball squared profile type so I didnt have any. I flipped the seal over and reinstalled it, repeated the test and the leak is sealed up.
I guess this leads me to a couple of questions......
1. Maybe I should start lubing the chamber every 100 shots or so. Any of you lube the chamber more often than every 500 shots?
2. Where do I get quality breech seals, preferably much better quality than stock Crosman seals?? The stock ones are a tad short, and really hard.
