Tribe had around 40 at the time of photo. They had 900 acres for them to roam. We would go there and hunt squirrels.

The Indians had it going on. I took one one year off a private ranch. If you do this, bring a sack full of knives, your lunch, and all the friends you can talk into it. They are massive.
Best cut of meat I think I ever tasted. LostWife is allergic to beef and could eat this.
Beautiful animals, and I'm not sure I'd even hit one with my Texan. Did I mention they are massive? A ton of irritated, world class athlete (don't let their size and pictured tranquility fool you) with a huge attitude isn't something to be toyed with. LOL

I remember in Washington State there are herds of them on ranches,I think they raise them to butcher,Buffalo meat is great as is Moose.

Try the Yukon and Alaska to see free roaming wild herd bison. When they opened the Delta Junction area to homesteading in the late 70s and early 80s for farming it was a buffet for the bison. The largest bison area is in the Yukon is northeast of the Alcan hwy.

LOL! I would have peed my pants! They are HUGE! When I was a kid, family went on vacation to Wyoming and I saw my first bison..then I saw one go poo....was green and came out Iike water from a hose, then we went to eat lunch and they were serving split pea soup...can’t eat split pea to this day!

I've been to a place called "head smashed in buffalo jump" in Alberta. True story and yeah indeed beautiful and useful animals.

They were a independence on the hoof. Food, clothing, shelter. Their decimation forced compliance by the native American tribes. Control is very predictable, its been played out thru history.
